The beaver population is actively growing, which means that their visits to vegetable gardens and summer cottages will become more frequent. How to protect your work from them? After all, these animals can cause severe harm to crops and plants in general.

Red Book

Some time ago, these animals were even included in the Red Book. This is due to the fact that they were exterminated in huge numbers for the sake of the skin and the famous beaver jet, which is actively used in the perfumery and medical industries. Since the end of the nineteenth century, many defenders have appeared around the world who opposed their extermination. Thus, their population returned to normal.

Benefit

Beavers in nature are quite useful animals, because they build dams between streams and small river mouths. So, they create separate areas with water, where various fish, waterfowl and other animals breed and live. They also fell trees, cutting the trunks with sharp teeth - and this is useful food, for example, for hares and ungulates.

Harm

As for the human being, being around a beaver may not seem so joyful. For their construction, the latter can borrow from the garden, for example, fruit-bearing trees or bushes. This will certainly negatively affect the harvest, therefore, all the work that the gardener put into growing them is in vain.

How to get rid of beavers?

Of course, this is a very difficult task. After all, everyone wants to start using those methods that will not harm the animals themselves.

Firstly, in order to avoid such guests, you need to install a really reliable fence, under which it is impossible to make a tunnel or a gap. Here it is important to properly “sink the fence into the ground. The depth should start from one meter, only in this case the building can be called reliable.

Secondly, experienced people say that beavers are afraid of dogs and will never go into the garden where they smell these animals.

Thirdly, in order to somehow save your trees from the attack of beavers, you can frame the tree trunks with barbed wire. Having seen this, the animal is unlikely to want to harm itself and will leave on its own.

There is also an opinion that beavers do not like light, because they develop all their activities at night. Therefore, installing a powerful spotlight can be beneficial.
