Insects need to travel long distances from a cozy home to the cherished nectar, as a result, they bring home much less useful treats. Moving the insects to a new location is a good solution to this problem, but this will require a special trailer. It can be purchased ready-made or purchased.

Various types of devices can be used to transport bees to the honey plant:

• Car beekeeping trailers;
• Platform;
• Pavilion.

Each of them has its own characteristics and specific design.

Bee trailer

Today, manufacturers offer various design devices, including a trailer for transporting bees in a passenger car. It is an on-board device that can accommodate up to 24 bee houses. Houses are installed in rows. On such a device, the hives are left for the required period of time, then they return back to the apiary.

This is most likely not a dedicated transport system, but a stationary device for placing hives in a permanent location. Most often, the pavilion consists of two sections:

1. In the working part of the bee pavilion there are houses themselves.
2. The household part contains work items and other things necessary for the maintenance of bees.

Usually, a pavilion with an area of ​​5-6 square meters is enough for the location of 50 hives. meters:

• Mobile pavilions are devices equipped with wheels, so they can be easily transported over any distance.
• Stationary - equipment that is intended for the permanent location of dwellings in the apiary;
• The cassette pavilions are equipped with additional cells for insects to live in.

Bee transport platform

The bee platform is a convenient semi-trailer without sides and additional shelters on which hives are located. At its core, such equipment can be called a miniature apiary.

Advantages:

• Up to 50 houses can be placed on one platform, as it can be one-level or two-level;
• Very convenient to use, since you do not need to remove and lift them back for transportation;
• If the platform is additionally equipped with a roof, it will save from direct sunlight and precipitation.

Transportation of bee hives by cart

For remote areas with bad roads, transporting by car is not very convenient. Off-road in some cases becomes a real obstacle. The solution may be to use a horse with a cart. If the farm has its own horse, then there are no problems at all.

You can equip an ordinary traditional cart for transportation. Of course, it will not house as many hives as the factory equipment. With the right layout, more than 30 hives can be located on it.

DIY bee platform

The platform has many advantages over other types of devices for transporting bee hives. Another important advantage of the platform for bees is the ease of do-it-yourself installation.

To organize a homemade platform, you will need to prepare:

• Factory car trailer;
• Square pipes with dimensions of 2.5x5x1200 cm, 2x4x2400 cm;
• 3 corners with dimensions 4x150 cm and 2 - 3.5x240 cm;
• 24 plastic panels with dimensions 10x180 cm;
• 3 pipes, 20x240 cm in diameter;
• Iron sheet to fit the platform;
• 8 bearings;
• 1 m profile;
• Square;
• Wooden boards;
• Welding equipment.

After all the equipment is ready, you can start making the platform with your own hands.

Instructions:

1. With the help of metal pipes, the trailer is lengthened by 1 m.
2. Springs from a conventional UAZ should be installed on the trailer axle.
3. A frame with dimensions of 240x180 cm is made from pipes with dimensions of 2.5x5 cm, the bottom of which is covered with a sheet of iron.
4. The entire frame is divided into 3 identical parts. The central part is retractable for convenience. For this, a slide from a 2x4 pipe is used.
5. Now you can weld on the hinge loops. The drawbar is fastened using a 4x150 pipe.
6. The last stage will be the construction of a light roof, which will protect the houses with insects from scorching rays and precipitation.

Lightweight beekeeping trailer for transportation

If you own a not too large apiary (from 5 to 10 hives), then you can use a factory trailer of a car for transporting bees. Such equipment does not require an additional driver's category, open enough V.

However, in order to use standard beekeeping trailers, a small re-equipment will be required. When carrying out a high-quality modernization, it will be possible to transport about 24 houses using one bee trailer.

In order to place several rows of hives on the apiary trailer at once, the base should be widened by peeling off the frame and roof. Another important element of any hive trailer is the reliable support, which guarantees an even horizontal position of the hives.

When organizing transportation on beekeeping trailers, you should take care of some points:

1. To soften the shaking during transportation, it is necessary to cover the floor of the trailer with any material: hay, straw, foam rubber.
2. To exclude the mobility of the transported houses, they are fixed with ropes;
3. For the period of transportation, the honeycombs are removed, only the fixed frames are left.
4. To prevent the temperature from rising in the hive, the top covers are removed. Instead, nets are covered.

Bee hive transport devices such as a platform, a bee trailer or a pavilion will help in caring for the bees and will also increase the production of a valuable product. After all, it is much more convenient for bees not to fly a long distance, but to collect nectar near the houses themselves.
