Recently, more and more gardeners and gardeners, on the advice of agronomists, prefer to use not purchased mineral fertilizers and stimulants, but prepared independently. The point is not at all that all this in stores costs good money, but in order to get environmentally friendly feeding. With an excess of chemicals, nitrates accumulate in the fruit. One of the most popular types of top dressing is a bread-based fertilizer for cucumbers and tomatoes.

Why is bread dressing useful for cucumbers and tomatoes?

  • Pour the crackers into a five-liter plastic bottle and pour warm water. Close the lid tightly. Place in a warm place to start the fermentation process. Withstand two weeks. The same amount of pure water is added to the resulting solution.
  • Soak 3-4 loaves of bread in a 15 liter bucket for 2 days. Strain and feed the plants in a ratio of 1 liter of solution to 10 liters of water.
  • Half fill the 8-liter bucket with black bread crumbs. Pour water so that it covers the crackers. Put a plate on top and put oppression so that the pieces of bread do not float. After a week, strain the solution and add 3 liters of clean water.
  • Place 1/3 of manure, preferably horse manure, in a large container, cut grass: nettles, dandelions and other weeds, pour water over it.Let it brew for a week, then add 1 liter per 8-10 liter bucket of water.

Feeding cucumbers with yeast

There is one drawback in the preparation of these products - a very unpleasant smell arises during fermentation, so it is better to cook them outdoors.

Important! All these compounds must be well cleaned of bread crumb, since if it gets into the ground, it can attract rodents and create a crust around the plant, which will not allow oxygen to flow directly to the roots.

The use of top dressing from bread should be carried out for cucumbers in a ratio of 1 to 10, no more than once every 2 weeks, one liter for each bush. For tomatoes, this fertilizer should not be applied more than once every 20-25 days.

Important! An excess of grain-based fertilizers draws potassium and calcium out of the soil, oversaturation with nitrogen, therefore it is required to sprinkle / spill the soil with ash.

The following recipe can be singled out separately: one loaf of black bread per 5 liters of water at a temperature not exceeding 35 degrees, otherwise the yeast will simply cook. Add 10 ml. iodine. Put in a warm place for 10-12 hours. Strain and add another 5 liters of water. Fertilizer is good for foliar feeding. Therefore, potassium and calcium will not be leached out of the soil.

For quick preparation of top dressing from bread for cucumbers, you can use not bread, but directly yeast: for three liters of warm (body temperature) water, 10 tablespoons of sugar and one bag of dry yeast are taken. It is infused in a warm place for 4-8 hours, after which it is diluted with 10 liters of water. This solution can be used for both root and foliar dressing.

Note! Bread-based fertilizer cannot be stored for a long time - it loses its properties.

It should be borne in mind that not all vegetables are suitable for feeding with bread. Inexperienced gardeners begin to use the bread infusion, not paying attention to the condition of the plants. Since yeast contributes to a decrease in calcium and potassium in the soil, untimely feeding can only harm.

If the sprouts turn pale, the leaves are weak and a dry streak has appeared on the edges - the plants lack potassium. In this case, it is better to refuse yeast fertilizer and feed the seedlings with potassium fertilizers, i.e. ash. It is also necessary to pay attention to such symptoms as pale color of young shoots, leaf curling and slow plant growth.

  • It is impossible to carry out top dressing with a bread mash under unfavorable weather conditions, including during rain, since bacteria sleep at low temperatures.

Important! A cucumber bread supplement can be used for diseased plants.

All of these methods of making cucumber fertilizer from bread are based on the fermentation effect, so it makes no sense to use yeast-free bread or crust. During fermentation, yeast cells secrete alcohol meso-inositol, biotin, vitamins of group B, which are biostimulants of root formation.
