Tomatoes of this variety are very popular among gardeners. They are among the super early (the growing season is from 87 to 95 days), bush tomatoes. At the same time, they are characterized by unpretentious care and resistance to diseases. Skazka tomatoes are a determinant variety, that is, limited in growth, which also creates additional advantages (there is no need to pinch or somehow care for the bush: as soon as it reaches the desired height, it will stop growing itself). At the same time, in order to get a good harvest, it is necessary to follow certain recommendations on cultivation techniques and know the history of the appearance of this variety.

History of appearance

Despite the fact that tomato appeared in Russia relatively recently (only in the 18th century), it has deservedly become one of the most popular vegetables not only on the table, but also in the garden. It is almost impossible to find a summer cottage where tomatoes would not grow. Their beneficial properties are widely known: they contain a large amount of various vitamins and acids that are necessary for the human body.

Tomatoes are a southern crop (historically they grow in Africa and South America, from where they were first brought to Europe and then to Russia). The first tomatoes in our country were also grown mainly in the southern regions, since the soil and climatic conditions in the northern and eastern regions were practically unsuitable for planting and growing the described vegetable, and there were no greenhouses at that time.

Tomato Tale

Later, when greenhouse growing technologies appeared, tomatoes appeared in the north and east of Russia. Recently, breeding work on the breeding of a variety that will give a stable harvest in rather harsh climatic conditions (with an unstable number of sunny and rainy days, strong winds, and so on) has become increasingly popular.

It should be noted! Siberian breeders have succeeded in solving this problem and have created a fairly large number of tomato varieties with attractive characteristics. One of the results of their work is the Skazka tomato, which is resistant to frost, most diseases and is unpretentious to cultivation techniques. At the same time, it has a fairly high yield and during the fruiting period it resembles a decorated Christmas tree, for which it got its name.

An attractive appearance creates a determinate bush. The tomato variety Skazka has excellent taste characteristics: the fruits are very tasty and juicy, contain almost all the nutrients a person needs.

Tomato bushes

The author of this variety is V.N. Dederko is a breeder from Novosibirsk. In addition to the variety described, he created many others that can satisfy the needs and tastes of almost any gardener or gardener. A feature of the Skazka tomato is the ability to grow it in the open field in Western Siberia. This is confirmed by both the corresponding entry and the recommendations of the State Register of Tomato Varieties in Russia.

Variety characteristics

The first thing to note is the determinancy of the described tomato bush. Its height is from 50 to 70 centimeters. By its structure, the bush is standard. This means that it has a fairly compact root system and a powerful trunk that resembles a tree with branches. The amount and volume of foliage in plants of this variety practically does not differ from the standard for a tomato.However, due to the low height of the bush, the leaves are very close to each other. Their shape is traditional for tomatoes, the color is dark green. The stalk has no articulation.

The crown forms compact and looks very attractive, especially during the flowering period. This structure of the bush provides a fairly high yield. Stamp determinant varieties do not require pinching, garter and crown formation, which greatly simplifies and facilitates their care. A feature of this type of tomato is that they can be planted much closer to each other than other varieties. This allows you to significantly increase the yield from 1 square meter of area, which means to increase the efficiency of their cultivation.

Variety characteristics

The inflorescence of the variety forms a simple one. The first flowers appear after 6-7 leaves are formed on the bush.

Note! Inflorescences are located about one leaf. If there are too many of them, it is recommended to remove some of them, which will increase the size of the fruit.

Tomato Good Tale is one of the early ripening ones. The ripening period is 85 to 95 days. As they ripen, the fruits first become milky white, which creates an attractive appearance for the bush and allows the plant to be used for decorative purposes, then gradually turn red, first acquire orange, and then bright red, tomato color. Tomatoes do not ripen at the same time, which also creates a unique appearance: on the same bush, you can find milk-white, orange, and bright red fruits.

This variety is also grown on an industrial scale, which is explained by its high yield. With proper care and adherence to all recommendations, up to 30 fruits can be harvested on one bush, and from one hectare the gross harvest reaches 285 centners, which is a very good indicator in the harsh climatic conditions of Siberian and northern regions of Russia.

Growing on an industrial scale

A distinctive feature of the Skazka tomato is a high proportion of inflorescence set. Moreover, it practically does not change under different weather conditions. The described plant has the ability to easily tolerate light short-term frosts, and is also resistant to most diseases to which crops of the Solanaceae family are susceptible.

Tomatoes Tale can be described as follows:

  • The fruits are of the correct rounded shape, therefore they resemble New Year's tree decorations in the form of balls;
  • A ripe tomato of this variety weighs from 60 to 70 grams, but under favorable conditions the weight can reach 200 grams;
  • The number of seed chambers in one fruit is more than four;
  • Experts note excellent taste (tomatoes are juicy, sweet, but with a characteristic sour tomato flavor);
  • The peel has a fairly high density and smoothness, but, despite this, tomatoes are poorly stored and transported.

Tomato salad

With such characteristics, the Skazka tomato is usually eaten fresh and as an ingredient in a salad. After processing, they make good ketchups, juice and other types of winter preparations.

Growing recommendations

The optimal territory for this culture is Western Siberia and regions with a similar climate (where a fairly cool and short summer season). Like any tomatoes, the Skazka variety is recommended to be grown in seedlings. The seed is planted in a standard manner. First they are prepared (if the seeds were not purchased in a store, they should be treated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection), then they are planted in special containers with soil (it can be purchased ready-made in the store, or you can prepare it yourself from sand, humus and a fertile soil layer) ... As the first shoots appear, if the planting was not carried out in separate containers, the tomatoes dive.

Additional Information. Thanks to selection work on tomatoes of this variety, their seedlings, as a rule, grow quite strong and healthy, which allows you to count on a high yield.

Landing in open ground is recommended as soon as the daytime temperature becomes steadily positive. Some gardeners harden them before planting tomatoes in open ground. To do this, they gradually take out containers with seedlings to the street or balcony. At first, the time spent on the street seedlings - 30 minutes, then it gradually increases to full daylight hours.

Important! After planting in the ground, in order to protect the vegetable from night frosts, it is recommended to cover the garden bed either with non-woven material or with a material specially purchased for this purpose.

Caring for tomatoes of the Fairy Tale variety is simple. They do not require crown formation, pinching. Tying them up is required only in case of emergency or a large harvest. It is recommended to periodically treat plants with special agents (for example, phytosporin) in order to prevent various diseases and scare off pests.

Watering tomatoes

Watering should be regular, as well as top dressing. It is recommended to water it at least every other day, depending on the amount of precipitation, and to feed it three times per period (during the period of bud formation, then during the formation of ovaries and during fruit ripening).

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages, due to which the Skazka tomato is popular with gardeners, are:

  • Stable and high yield;
  • Excellent taste;
  • Easy to care for;
  • A high percentage of ovary formation, regardless of climate and weather conditions.

On a note! As a disadvantage, some gardeners highlight the complexity of transportation and short storage times. But it is easily neutralized by the ability to consume them fresh, thanks to their excellent taste and the use of various salads, ketchups and sauces in the preparation process.

Thus, the Skazka tomato, the characteristics and description of the variety of which are given above, is deservedly popular in Western Siberia. It allows you to get a rich harvest with relatively easy maintenance. In addition, it is highly resistant to unpredictable climatic conditions and various diseases.
