Tomato Buffalo Heart is considered to be a relatively young and innovative variety that has managed to attract the attention and love of many agronomists. Its main individual feature is its large size and unusual shape. Basically, these tomatoes are consumed fresh or are prepared from tomato juices and pastes.

Tomato Buffalo Heart: characteristics and description of the variety

The culture was bred at the beginning of the 21st century by Russian breeders in Siberia. It should be noted that it is suitable for breeding in any Russian region. It belongs to the number of mid-ripening determinant varieties, the average period from germination to harvesting the first harvest is 100 days. Does not belong to the number of hybrid, does not have the same name F1 hybrids.

Important! The variety is practically not susceptible to disease. As a preventive measure against pests, it is recommended to carry out treatment with insecticidal substances.

These plants are of great interest, since they combine the short stature of the bush (no more than 0.8 m) and the large size of the fruits (up to 1 kg). Extended fruiting makes the crop easy to grow commercially. The foliage is weak, the bushes are frail. Can be planted in open ground, film shelters and greenhouses.

Description of fruits

Buffalo Heart fruits are heart-shaped. At the stage of ripeness, tomatoes acquire a raspberry-pink color. Weight can vary from 0.4 to 1 kg. The fruit has a rich sweetish flavor and fleshy flesh. They have a thin, but strong skin. It is not recommended to store ripe fruits for a long time; they are more often used for making salads, juices and pastes. To date, the Heart of a Buffalo is not included in the state register of the Russian Federation.

Growing features

This type of tomato is planted as seedlings in open soil. It is recommended to start preparing seeds for seedlings 2 months before the expected date of planting.

Seeds are sown in containers to a depth of not more than 1 cm, the substrate used must be moist and loose. After planting, the soil is moistened with a spray bottle and the containers are placed in a warm place. To speed up the emergence of seedlings, it is recommended to cover the seedlings with glass.

When two leaves are formed on the appeared seedlings, the seedlings dive into a separate dish. When 4-5 leaves are formed on the seedlings and they are sufficiently strong, they can be planted in open soil.

Important! Before planting, the seedlings must be "hardened". To do this, the seedlings are taken out onto the balcony or street, gradually increasing the duration of stay there.

In open soil for 1 sq. m. you can place no more than 4 seedlings. To increase the yield, the plant is fed with universal / natural fertilizers. The culture needs timely pinching, as well as loosening the soil and removing weeds. Water as needed.

Culture Buffalo heart is very unpretentious in care, even a novice gardener can cope with it.
