Russian breeders from the Semko Junior company have created an excellent hybrid - the Matador tomato. The specimen is so good that scientists have suggested it for growing on an industrial scale.

Excellent taste, stable yield, reliable storage and transportation - all this is conducive to the device of tomato plantations. Gardeners-vegetable growers also liked this variety, since the use of the vegetable is universal - fresh and in the form of canned preparations for the winter, and cultivation will not cause much trouble with proper care.

Characteristics and description of the Matador tomato variety

The determinant plant (limited growth) reaches a height of 75 cm. A flower cluster forms at the end of the shoot, the ovary develops, and the plant stops growing. It can be grown without support, although in practice it has been proven that pegs driven into the soil near the bush will not damage.

The leaves of the species are ordinary, light green in color, the inflorescences are simple.

According to the description of the Matador tomatoes, the variety is considered early maturing (from the moment of sowing the seeds to the collection of the first fruits, it takes 105-110 days).

It successfully resists typical tomato diseases - Alternaria (spots on yellow leaves resembling rust, eventually affect the fruit) and tobacco mosaic (yellowish specks affect foliage, wrinkle it, slow down fruit ripening).

Note! Each brush has several fragrant, slightly elongated fruits - 4-5 pieces, weighing about 100 grams. each.

The taste of the fruit is excellent - sweet, with a light piquant sourness, the skin is smooth, thin, but firm enough.

The selection has made it possible to create a variety that copes well with temperature changes. The fruit does not crack on the branches.

Growing

Careful care will allow you to remove about 6 kg of vegetables from one square meter.

Seedling

The most correct thing would be to grow the culture ourselves from beginning to end. Preparing Matador tomato seedlings:

  • in the second half of March, it is time to sow seeds for seedlings. Prepare a container with peat or individual peat pots;
  • soak the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate for 4-5 hours;
  • place each seed to a depth of 1.5-2 cm and sprinkle with earth;
  • spray the planting with warm water, cover with foil and leave it indoors at a temperature not lower than 22 degrees.
  • remove the film after the seeds hatch, rearrange the container on the windowsill;
  • with the appearance of leaves, it's time to move on to hardening - every day, leave the seedlings on the balcony for 1-2 hours.

Tomato bush

With the establishment of warm weather outside, you can safely plant seedlings. The end of May is the optimal time.

There are usually 4 or 5 plants per 1 square meter. This variety allows the formation of two trunks - the fruits will ripen enough, it will be convenient to take care of the plant.

The soil for the variety is traditional "tomato": loose and moist. Optimal composition:

  • clay or loam;
  • sawdust;
  • humus and peat in equal amounts.

Another soil option:

  • humus;
  • peat;
  • sand;
  • sawdust;
  • ash and superphosphate fertilizer.

Bush formation

Grasshopping is an important stage in the development of a plant. Despite the fact that Matador tomatoes are a determinant variety, the bushes still have to be shaped. Only one bottom stepson is not removed. All subsequent ones must be broken out, leaving small stumps so that the process in the bosom above the leaf does not begin to form again. So the bush will form two trunks - the main (vertical) and one side (from the bosom of the lower leaf).

Top dressing

For high-quality ripening of fruits, fertilizing with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is used twice during the growing season. In addition, additional feeding with microelements (by spraying) is necessary - zinc, calcium, sulfur, molybdenum, iron, etc., included in the complex formulations.

Watering

Water the plantings 1-2 times a week under each bush, trying not to water the stem and leaves.

Important! The water norm is 4-5 liters per plant.

The Matador variety grows and bears fruit abundantly in the northern latitudes under greenhouse conditions; in the southern regions it can be safely planted in open ground.
