Growing features

You can plant seedlings in a greenhouse from mid-May.

Planting seedlings in open ground is allowed in early June, when the air temperature warms up to 15 degrees, and frosts stop.

It is recommended to add peat, sawdust and dolomite flour to the soil.

Important! To retain moisture and protect against low temperatures, mulching must be carried out. Leaves, straw, peat, or bark are suitable mulch.

The scheme of growing in a greenhouse: staggered or in a row, the distance between the beds is 70 cm, the bushes should be placed every 50 cm. So each plant will receive a dose of sunlight and will be ventilated.

When 5 leaves appear, you can tie them up. During cultivation, it is required to strengthen the tomatoes about 5 times.

All stepsons and the top should be cut off. You need to form a bush in 1 or 2 stems. Every 2 weeks, potash and nitrogen fertilizers are required.

Advice! If you use a growth stimulant, you can increase the weight of the fruit by 20%.

Watering tomatoes is rare, but abundant: 2 times a week, 5 liters per bush.

Important! During watering, do not allow water to get on the tomato leaves so that they do not get burned.

How to fix tomatoes:

  • On metal and wooden stakes. Each support 2.5 m high is inserted into the ground. The distance to the seedling is 10 cm, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the roots. Then each bush is tied with a rope to the stem. Do not pull the string tight!
  • On the trellises. This method is more suitable for growing in a greenhouse. On the edges of each row with tomatoes, columns are dug in. And at a height of 2 m, a wire is pulled through which the rope is thrown. The plant will rise along it.
  • On the cage. A metal or wooden cage is built around each tomato bush, to the poles of which the stems are attached.

The rope for tying is used from synthetic materials. Do not use fishing line and wire!

Why tie up Fidelio tomatoes:

  • The stem will not break under the weight of large fruits.
  • Vitality will be spent on the formation of the crop, and not on stretching to the sun.
  • Facilitates maintenance: easy to fertilize, spray, trim.
  • Heavy rains will not damage the plant as it is anchored.

Benefits of the variety

  • High productivity.
  • Resistant to heat and drought.
  • Large juicy fruits.
  • More vitamins than red tomatoes.

Disadvantages of the variety

  • Not suitable for preservation.
  • Requires additional care.

These tall tomatoes were developed especially for the climate of our country. The variety is prized for its juicy sweet taste and large fruits. To get a decent harvest, you should tie up each bush, do not flood the plants with water and apply potash fertilizers.
