Just 10 years ago, Novosibirsk entrepreneurs registered a new tomato variety in the State Register of Russia, but it has already attracted the interest of many lovers of meaty tasty tomatoes. The breeders of the Russian firm "Siberian Garden" named it - tomato Batyan, it is considered one of the best salad varieties of the Siberian collection, with good hardening, adapted to any weather conditions, but the best yield is manifested in greenhouse conditions.

Characteristic

In recent years, natural disasters have become commonplace. Summer air temperature is observed in early spring, and at the beginning of summer the weather can surprise with night frosts on the soil. Therefore, breeders are increasingly developing universal varieties that do not respond to weather changes.

These are the characteristics and description of the variety in the tomato Batian:

  • indeterminate culture;
  • strong bush, massive;
  • grows up to 1.9-2 m;
  • the weight of one tomato is 350-400 g, in greenhouse conditions - more than 500 g;
  • color is bright pink or crimson;
  • the shape of the tomato resembles a heart, ribbed, at the end with a small spout;
  • an unripe fruit has a dark green spot at the base of the peduncle;
  • the pulp is very soft, tasty, sweetish, covered with a smooth glossy skin;
  • each fruit has 4 seed chambers, but the seeds are practically absent;
  • the stem is thin, needs to be tied;
  • leaves are dark green, large, sparsely located on the stem;
  • the root system is well developed, it covers a circle up to half a meter, but it is not located very deep underground;
  • the bush forms only 3-4 brushes, each of them has only 4 fruits with a thin skin.

Tomato Batianya

Up to 4-5 kg of tomatoes are harvested from each Batiani bush during the tomato season. The variety belongs to early maturing vegetables, therefore experts recommend growing the crop in greenhouse conditions. In open ground, Batian tomatoes are planted only in regions with a warm climate.

The highest yield is obtained when the stem is formed into two branches. To do this, after the formation of the first ovary, one stepson should be left under it. A second stem will form from it.

After planting in open ground, subject to all the rules of agricultural technology, Batianya will delight you with the first fruits in 2.5-3 months.

Growing features

It is necessary to prepare for the cultivation of this variety in advance. When purchasing seeds, re-grading is possible, so it is better to get them yourself. This is a proven method that will never fail. First, you need to choose a mother tomato, while taking into account that it contains little seed material, which means you need to grow more tomatoes for seeds.

Tomato seeds

Seeds

The selected number of tomatoes is allowed to ripen completely without tearing from the bush. Then the fruit is cut, the grains are carefully removed, filled with water and washed. Spread well washed seeds on paper or a clean cloth and dry in a ventilated area, turning them regularly. Place dry seeds in a clean envelope or linen bag, store in a dry place until planting.

A few days before disembarkation, they are placed in a refrigerator for hardening. Seeds for seedlings are planted 2 months before planting seedlings in open ground.

Seedling

Before planting seeds, they must be soaked in a weak manganese solution for disinfection. Put a thin layer of drainage on the bottom of the box, then pour the earth evenly.The soil is fertilized in advance: it is watered with an infusion of wood ash, a solution of aloe juice, and sprinkled with diluted potassium permanganate for disinfection. The earth should be crumbly, without greasy lumps. Longitudinal grooves are made in the soil, seeds are sparsely sown, sprinkled with earth.

Small groove

The seedlings need to create conditions for good growth: provide an air temperature of 23-24 degrees and light for 15-18 hours a day, regularly moisten the soil, preventing the accumulation of liquid, this can form a fungus.

After the first sprout with two leaves hatches, the seedlings must be dived. Do this 9-10 days after planting the seeds. 2 days before the pick, the seedlings begin to be watered vigorously.

When diving, carefully take out a seedling from the ground, pinch the central root and plant it again in the ground. At the same time, weak seedlings are rejected, they differ from strong shoots, it is impossible not to notice them.

A week after the pick, feed the seedlings, then do this every two weeks. For fertilization, a solution of superphosphate, urea and potassium sulfate is used.

Advice! Water seedlings abundantly, but not often. The pick will strengthen the root system and increase the yield of Batiani.

The soil

Batiani seedlings are planted in open ground when it grows to 20-22 cm. This variety of tomato develops better in slightly acidic soil, without high humidity. The yield of this variety will significantly increase if the tomato is planted in the ground where root crops, green crops, and legumes previously grew.

The soil, where the beds will be, is treated with a solution of copper sulfate in a ratio of 1:10 for disinfection. The next step is to fertilize the soil. Fertilized with two types of fertilizers:

  • organic matter - humus, sawdust, peat are mixed in equal parts;
  • mineral - superphosphate, wood ash, potassium sulfate.

After fertilization, the soil is sprayed with a solution of potassium permanganate. All preparation steps are carried out a week before planting seedlings.

Transplanting

Despite the fact that this tomato variety is photophilous, it is necessary to plant seedlings in open ground in cloudy weather. If the weather is sunny for several days, then planting should be done in the evening. This is a feature that is used to grow light-loving tomato crops.

Planting tomato seedlings in the ground

For Batian tomatoes, a description can explain the seedling planting scheme:

  • the distance between seedlings should be at least 50-60 cm;
  • leave a distance of 65 cm between the rows;
  • make a passage through each formed 2 rows, about a meter wide.

Water the seedlings before planting, this will help not to damage the root, removing the seedling. Seedling planting rules:

  • dig holes in the ground, 50-60 cm in size;
  • get the seedling along with the earthen lump, place it in the prepared hole;
  • sprinkle with earth, tamp, immediately watered abundantly;
  • drive in a peg near each bush, at least 1.5 m in height, for a future garter;
  • the garden bed is covered with a film, until the seedlings take root.

After planting, the seedlings are not watered for a week.

Watering

Tomato is a thermophilic culture, and it should be watered only with warm water, under the root, without falling on the leaves. If the weather is cool, limit watering and stop altogether in rainy weather.

In sunny weather, watering tomatoes is necessary in the evening or morning, no more than once every 2 days. Excessive watering can harm the plant: the root will rot, and a fungal disease will develop. With a lack of moisture, the leaves will fall, turn yellow, and the flowers will fall off.

Watering at the root

Stealing

In the axils of the leaves, false stems are formed - stepchildren. They must be removed when the sprouts are 2-3 cm long. After removing the stepchildren, nutrients will flow to the main plant, which will increase the yield and improve the taste of the tomato. The stem of the plant can grow more than 1.5 m, this will make it thin and weak. Therefore, it must be limited in growth by pinching and be sure to tie it up.Otherwise, under the weight of massive fruits, the stem may bend or break.

Fertilizer

A weak solution of boric acid is used to stimulate the growth of a varietal tomato Batiani. It is enough to add 0.2 g of boric acid per 1 liter of water, spray the plant once a week, and the yield will increase markedly. In addition, infusion of mullein or chicken droppings is added to the root of the plant. Mineral substances will enrich the plant with tincture of eggshell.

Disease protection

Pest control starts with planting seeds. Seeds, soil, seedlings, open ground should be treated. Each type of disease has its own methods of struggle. But there are general recommendations for the prevention of diseases that should be followed. In addition to industrial pesticides, there are alternative methods available:

  • spray plants with onion peel infusion;
  • add 1 liter of milk whey and a few drops of iodine to a bucket of water, spray the leaves with this solution;
  • use for spraying solutions of yeast, garlic, baking soda, ash.

They spray mainly the lower side of the leaf, it is there that insects and their larvae hide.

Advantages and disadvantages

The name of the tomato lives up to its name. Batyania, due to its size, deserves to be called the head of tomato varieties. It makes a thick, tasty, bright red tomato juice, and in salads it is simply irreplaceable. In addition, it has other advantages:

  • the possibility of growing in greenhouses and in the open field;
  • amicable, almost simultaneous, tomato ripening;
  • rich, sweetish taste;
  • the minimum number of seeds;
  • fruits are not prone to cracking;
  • good transportability.

Disadvantages:

  • fruits are not the same size;
  • not suitable for canning as a whole;
  • the need for pinching and tying;
  • low productivity;
  • the need for increased feeding;
  • a large number of ovaries weakens the plant, this reduces the resistance to disease.

Tomato Batianya is successfully grown not only by professionals, but also by novice vegetable growers. Having correctly selected a complex of fertilizers, you can effortlessly get a large number of tasty large fruits of one of the best tomato varieties of Batyan.
