Many gardeners grow grapes, some risk doing it on infertile soils, applying a huge amount of fertilizer. And they achieve results! The right choice of a variety that has a suitable ripening period and has satisfactory frost resistance plays an important role in the success. These growers include Tason, which is very popular in the Moscow region.

The history of the creation of the variety

Tason was brought out by Russian breeders in the field of viticulture from the VNIIViV named after Ya. I. Potapenko. The process itself took a long time and was laborious. To obtain new grapes, the varieties Italia and Zorevaya were used. Gardeners still cannot rejoice at the result, who note a huge number of positive properties, including nutmeg taste. Grape berries are good fresh, they make excellent wine.

Note!According to unconfirmed reports, more than 80 thousand km² are planted with the Tason variety in Russia for winemaking.

Key characteristics of the variety:

  • Average frost resistance. According to most experts, this culture is able to withstand temperatures down to -23 ° C.
  • Long shelf life. The harvested fruits can lie in a cool place for more than a month without losing their qualities.
  • Stable harvest. Tason bears fruit annually, even if the summer was rainy.
  • The unique taste, which is why grapes are so popular with winemakers.

Important! The variety is ideal for growing in greenhouse conditions.

Growing features

To grow this varietal grape, there is no need for a complete study of agricultural technology, it is enough to have only general knowledge. The main thing is to provide the culture with proper care, which consists of timely feeding, watering and pruning.

Grapes in the greenhouse

It is necessary to plant Tason grapes in open ground with abundant lighting without drafts, and so that groundwater does not pass close to the future vineyard. You need to add 1 bucket of manure or chicken droppings to the pit for the seedling. Make drainage so that water does not stagnate (crushed stone or broken brick is suitable), which is sprinkled with soil, making a small slide in the hole. A seedling is placed on it, the roots are straightened, and they are covered with the remaining earth. Around the stem, tamp and watered a little (1 bucket of water per 1 bush).

During the first year, it is important to control soil moisture and water more frequently on hot days. The land under the bush can be mulched (sawdust, straw or dry grass).

Important! You can prune Tason in the first year, when the seedling grows. It is allowed to pin the top of his head to form sleeves. During pruning, no more than 7 shoots should remain on one vine.

Advantages and disadvantages of grapes

Some gardeners consider the speed of ripening of fruits to be the main advantage of the culture, while others - pleasant taste and a wonderful appearance. They also distinguish resistance to long-term transportation and unpretentiousness in cultivation.

Of the minuses, only 2 are called: weak immunity to diseases (powdery mildew, mildew) and a low index of frost resistance.

But, despite the shortcomings, Tason was and will be grown further, because the breeders have not yet developed a more suitable variety for the manufacture of nutmeg.
