Viticulture in our country is at the peak of its popularity. Thanks to breeders, this crop can be grown today in the Middle Lane and in the Urals. The Rylines Pink Siddles grape can withstand frosts down to -34 degrees, however, its berries are very tasty and aromatic.

The history of the creation of the variety

This grape was developed by crossing two varieties Ontario and Suffolk Red. In 1964, workers at the University of Arkansa set a goal for a frost-resistant seedless grape variety. In 1968, young Rylines grape seedlings were planted in experimental plots in North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and other states.

Important! The variety has been tested for eight years. Vineyards have survived even in Wisconsin, where temperatures dropped to -34 ° C during the winter months.

As a result, RPS grapes (an abbreviation of Rylines Pink Sidlis) received a high tasting score of 7.4 points. And the taste of dried raisins berries were rated at 7.6 points.

Fact! The taste of Reeline grapes resembles strawberries or the well-known Duchess sweets.

The main useful characteristic is that this varietal grape is resistant to mildew, powdery mildew and black rot. The crop is used for fresh food, drying and making grape juice. Now that a detailed description of the variety is known, you can consider how best to plant and grow it.

Agrotechnics

In the suburbs and the middle lane, the Rylines Pink Sidlis seedlings are well accepted both in autumn and spring.

  • planting grape seedlings from October to November is carried out two weeks before the onset of frost;
  • if the landing is planned for the spring, then it is carried out from April to May.

Saplings under agrospan

At the same time, the planted seedlings are covered with agrospan or other protective material, since return frosts are possible.

The site for grapes is chosen open, sunny, protected from the winds. The place should not go under water as a result of spring floods or as a result of prolonged precipitation. You can plant grapes in sandy, sandy loam, clay or loamy soil.

Before planting, the seedlings are placed in purified water. Soaking takes 12-24 hours. Further, all damaged or dried roots are cut off. Pits for planting plants are dug with dimensions of 1x1x1 meters. Broken brick or expanded clay is laid on the bottom, in a depression, with a layer of up to 30 cm. This measure will protect the roots of the grapes in the event of a close occurrence of groundwater. Water the seedlings and cover the soil with a small layer of mulch.

In the fall, the shoots of the first year are cut off, leaving 2-3 eyes. In the second year, in autumn, the grown shoots from the left eyes are cut off again, leaving 2-3 eyes on each. A strong support must be installed next to the growing vine.

Important! In the conditions of the Russian climate, with the exception of the southern regions, experts recommend covering this grape variety for the winter.

Like other plants, grapes need feeding and watering. These procedures are carried out until the end of the spring growing season, that is, until the first days of July.
