Viticulture has long been an interesting and profitable business. But if before there were not so many varieties, now they just run wild. When choosing grapes for planting, one should take into account its frost resistance, preferences regarding soil, lighting, organization of care. A good option is the early-middle grape variety Nadezhda AZOS. Like any other species, it has its pros and cons.

History and description of grapes Nadezhda AZOS

Nadezhda AZOS is a hybrid variety that combines the best qualities of Cardinal and Moldova varieties. The variety was included in the register for cultivation in 1998 and began to be planted in vineyards located in the North Caucasus region. The breeder N. N. Apalkov managed to create a very successful interspecific hybrid, which in a short period of time won the sympathy of winegrowers.

Shoots of grapes AZOS can reach a height of 3 m, vigorous bushes. There are many fruit-bearing shoots, accounting for 83% of the total.

The leaf blade is presented in the form of a large, five-lobed leaflet with a dissection. Each shoot can withstand 1.5 bunches. No more than one inflorescence is formed on one shoot. Nadezhda AZOS is distinguished by bisexual flowering. The ripe bunch has impressive dimensions - weight up to 710 g. The stems are not too long, but they cannot be called short either.

The bunch contains elliptical berries of black and blue color, inside of which there are full-fledged seeds. Each berry weighs at least 5 g, large ones reach 8 g. The flesh is covered with a not too thick skin and is very fleshy and crispy. The taste is at a high level, although the taste of the berries is simple without any peculiarities. The tasting score for this variety is 8.2 points out of 10.

As for the ripening time, this variety is referred to as early-middle. This can easily be explained by the fact that the buds open too late. Ripe berries can be harvested no earlier than the third decade of August, and this depends on how much the crop was laid. If an adult bush holds no more than 20 kg of harvest, then by August 20 the berries will be ripe, and if 30 or more, then you will have to wait until September.

Pros and cons of the variety

First of all, it is worth mentioning the advantages of this grape, and it has much more of them than disadvantages:

  • Nadezhda AZOS is distinguished by its good transportability;
  • calmly tolerates a decrease in air temperature to -26 ° C.
  • has large berries;
  • berries have a dense peel that is not damaged by wasps and other insects;
  • the variety is resistant to diseases: gray rot, oidium, mildew.

And the disadvantages of this variety are only 2 and those are insignificant. The first is considered to be the low rooting rate of cuttings, and the second is not too high yield, which is only 7.8 t / ha.

Note! This variety is grown primarily for sale and for consumption. Some housewives make grape juice from it. It is rarely used for making wine.

Landing features

First of all, for planting grapes Nadezhda, you need to find a place where there is light and fertile soil without groundwater and with a good drainage layer. And then the landing is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. The best time for planting is spring, when the ground is already well warmed up and dry.Residents of the southern regions can start planting seedlings as early as May 5 and finish before the 20th, and those who live in the northern part of the country or in the Moscow region are not recommended to plant the first seedlings before May 15.
  2. To provide protection to the vineyard, it is worth planting fruit and berry plants nearby, which will contribute to snow retention.
  3. You need to properly prepare for landing. A day before planting in the ground, the root system is placed in a container with warm water and shortened by 15 cm, but not all roots, but only the main ones. It is better to get rid of dry and damaged roots, since they can become causative agents of various diseases.
  4. The seedling hole should be 80 cm wide and the depth should correspond to the dimensions of the root system.
  5. At the bottom of the pit, lay a soil substrate, which should contain potassium salt or potassium chloride, soil, compost or humus, as well as superphosphate.
  6. Placing the seedlings in the hole, straighten the root system and cover with soil. After planting, the seedlings are watered abundantly. One seedling will need 1 bucket of water at room temperature. It is necessary to ensure that at the end of the landing in the ground, the lower kidney is located at the same level with the ground surface.

Care rules

Any plant requires attention, and the Nadezhda grape was no exception. With proper care of this variety, the grower will receive a high yield and excellent berry taste. So, the basic rules of care include:

  • It is recommended to water the grape bushes not superficially, as everyone is used to doing, but to dig pipes between the plants and water through them. Each adult plant for one watering should receive at least 4 buckets of water with the addition of 500 g of wood ash.
  • Most of the grapes need watering in early spring, when the cover is removed after wintering, and special attention is paid to watering a week before flowering and at the end.
  • Do not forget about loosening the soil to improve aeration and remove weeds.
  • Variety Nadezhda needs additional feeding. This is especially true for young plants that have already begun to bear fruit. You can feed with ready-made fertilizers, which can be purchased in specialized stores, or give preference to organic matter, but then superphosphate and humate must be added to the fertilizers. You need to pay attention to the size of the berries, since those bushes where the fruits have become small are in dire need of feeding.
  • Grapes are not immune to insect attacks and diseases, and in order to avoid this, preventive measures should be taken regularly, for example, treated with fungicides and insecticidal agents.
  • Pruning of bushes is carried out in the fall according to all the rules intended for table varieties. But when pruning, you should take into account the age of the bush and be sure to leave the vine with replacement branches.
  • In regions with harsh winters, grapes need shelter. This can be done only after all the leaves from the shoots have fallen off. Before spring, you don't need to get the vine out of the shelter.

Important! This grape variety is grown in a trellis method, placing supports next to the bushes.

Transportation

Since AZOS grapes have a dense skin on the berries, they perfectly tolerate transportation. For harvesting, it is worth paying attention to the weather, since the berries tend to crack during the rainy season.

Experienced gardeners say that it is better to choose spacious boxes for transportation, in each of which do not put more than 10 bunches. Cover the bottom of the container with soft material, and put cotton wool between the bunches.

If you follow all the rules that were set out above, then the grapes Nadezhda AZOS will feel great on the site and will give you a rich harvest on which you can earn. Moreover, this variety cannot be classified as whimsical, and caring for it will not cause trouble. You just need to do everything in a timely manner and with love.
