There are wine and table grape varieties. Some of them are considered universal. The Citron Magarach grape is classified as wine, but its fruits are also often eaten.

History of creation

The variety Citronny Magarach was bred at the Crimean Institute of Wine and Grapes Magarach. The memory of him and his description could be found in the middle of the last century.

Breeders simply crossed completely different varieties of ripe grapes - the main technical selective form of Magarach (Madeleine Anzhevin) and a wonderful early grape called Novoukrainsky, which belongs to table grapes. They could not achieve a positive result for a long time. But after lengthy development, it turned out to bring out good-quality varietal grapes.

Characteristics and features of the variety

The Citron Magaracha grape belongs to the early-medium wine varieties. After the appearance of the first inflorescences, it ripens within 130 days. The bushes are usually medium-sized. If growing conditions are good, the vineyard can grow quite quickly. The vine always ripens almost completely. With extensive budding, the yield of the variety increases.

The weight of a ripe bunch can reach up to 400 g. Fruits are small in size and do not exceed 4 g in weight. They are usually yellow or greenish in color. The skin is very firm. The pulp with citron aroma and nutmeg flavor. The fruits are juicy, sweet and sour. There can be 3-4 seeds inside each berry.

Features of growing varieties

On a note! To achieve high yields, a young Citron Magarach bush is planted only on well-lit and heated soils. For planting material, holes are made 35 cm deep. Special nutrient layers are laid out at the bottom of each hole.

It is imperative to ensure good watering of the seedlings. In order for the grapes to bear fruit better, you need to constantly feed them. For better vegetation and yield, pruning is done for 2-4 buds.

Another important characteristic of this variety: it is able to perfectly take root in a cool climate, but it is still desirable to wrap it up for the winter period. Before that, the bushes are treated with special agents that protect against a variety of diseases and parasites.

If you follow all the rules for caring for Magarach grapes, in the very first years of its growing season, a great strength of stem growth is manifested. In order not to overload the crop with branches, the bushes are usually pruned by about 10 buds. All extra shoots from the vine are removed directly during the growing season.
