Fitoverm is a biologically active drug used to combat small pests - ticks, aphids, Colorado beetles, weevils, thrips, etc. The drug acts on the nervous system of pests, causing them to paralysis, as a result of which at first (after 8-12 hours) they stop eating the plant, and after a few days - from three to a week - they finally die.

How the drug works

It can be used to protect both indoor flowers and fruiting plants, which include strawberries (another name is garden or nutmeg strawberries).

Important! Only the ground part of the plant is sprayed with the drug, without affecting the roots.

The main advantages of the product are a low level of toxicity, due to which it can be used on fruit plants, and high efficiency. Since the toxicity of Fitoverma is minimal, it can be used not only before the flowers appear, but also during flowering and fruiting.

Fitoverm for strawberries

The tool is not recommended to be used together with other drugs and fertilizers, especially with those that have an alkaline reaction. The gap between their use should be 2-3 days, however, along with Fitoverm, you can use growth stimulants - for example, Zircon or Epin.

Advice! Before using Fitoverm and other means together, they must be pre-mixed. In the event of a sediment appearance, the drugs cannot be used in the complex.

It is possible to use Fitoverm for strawberries for several years, since the rate of adaptation of pests to the drug is extremely low, which means that it will act invariably effectively.

The tool can be used during flowering and fruiting of plants without fear of poisoning, since it:

  • practically non-toxic;
  • decomposes quickly;
  • does not accumulate in leaves and soil.

On average, the drug acts for 5-15 days, depending on the air temperature (the higher the temperature, the better the agent works) and precipitation (with high humidity or past rain, the effectiveness of the agent is greatly reduced). It is used throughout the season - from spring to autumn.

The disadvantages of the tool include:

  • short duration of action, which is why it has to be applied several times;
  • sensitivity to weather conditions;
  • focus on adults, it will not work against larvae.

How to breed Fitoverm for strawberries

The drug is sold as a concentrate, which is diluted with plenty of water before use. Depending on the size of the gardening farm, it is sold in packages of various sizes - from 4 ml ampoules to a five liter canister. However, usually 50 and 100 ml vials are used.

Note! The diluted preparation is not intended for storage, therefore it is diluted immediately before use.

As a concentrate Fitoverm is stored for up to two years. It is optimally stored in a dry, cool room, located away from food. The concentrate can withstand temperatures from -15 to +30 degrees.

How to dilute Fitoverm for processing strawberries: the recommended dosage is 2 ml of the product per 1 liter of water. As a rule, one strawberry bush takes up to 100 ml of liquid.However, since the percentage of the active substance (avermectin C) in the preparations may differ depending on the manufacturer, it is necessary to study the instructions before use in order to accurately determine the ratio of water to the agent. If you use too much Fitoverm, the soil and plants can be damaged.

Note! Since the drug does not adhere well to the leaves, for better adhesion it is mixed with a solution of laundry soap (30 g of soap per liter of water).

Fitoverm is used only when pests appear; as a prophylactic agent, the drug can be harmful.

How to process strawberries with Fitoverm

To process strawberries and not get poisoned, you must observe the following safety precautions:

  • Use protective equipment - closed clothing, gloves, optionally - goggles and a respirator (mask).
  • Do not eat or smoke near the drug.
  • The container in which the product was diluted must not be used for storing food (it can be left to dilute the drug in the future).
  • If the product gets on the skin or eyes, immediately rinse the area with warm water (especially if the eye or mucous membrane is damaged).

Note! Before use, the drug is diluted with warm water.

The processing process itself usually occurs as follows:

  1. Spraying should be planned in the late afternoon, and it is important that the weather is dry and warm.
  2. The drug is diluted in accordance with the recommended dosage.
  3. A soap mixture or shampoo is added to the finished solution to fix Fitoverm on the leaves.
  4. Pour into a spray bottle or a watering can with a nozzle.
  5. Plants are sprayed.
  6. After 10-14 days, the procedure is repeated to destroy the new insects that hatch from the larvae.

To guarantee the destruction of pests, it is recommended to process strawberries up to four times per season.

Strawberry processing

In addition to special chemicals to get rid of pests and increase yields, folk methods are also used, which include treating strawberry bushes with mustard.

Note!Mustard can be used not only as a surface treatment, but also as a green manure (a plant that affects yields). To do this, mustard is planted between the strawberry beds - this not only increases productivity, but also eliminates a number of pests.

Usually, mustard is used to fight the weevil, one of the most common pests that appears on the leaves even before flowering and lives on the bushes throughout the season (unless, of course, you do anything to destroy it). The weevil significantly affects the yield - when it appears, the number of berries is reduced by almost 40%.

It is considered more correct to apply complex measures of influence - such as tillage of the soil and bushes before the start of the "garden" season, digging up the earth and spraying with drugs. However, you can get rid of this insect in simpler ways - especially if the pest has appeared relatively recently. To do this, use a mustard solution.

Mustard powder should be diluted with water in a ratio of 100 grams of powder to 1 liter of water. The resulting mixture is processed with strawberries (and raspberries, if available on the site). If the bushes have blackened or spoiled buds, they should be cut off - there are weevil larvae. Since it is one of the most effective remedies, we can say that strawberry mustard during flowering is simply an irreplaceable remedy.

Processing strawberries with special means does not require serious preparation - for this, care and caution are more needed.
