Apple tree Papirovka is a folk variety of apples that is widely used in breeding. It has been known since the 19th century, obtained during natural pollination, and the Baltic States are recognized as a tree genus. Currently it is cultivated in Poland, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic and so on. Other names for this variety are Pribaltiyskaya, Alabaster.

Characteristics of the variety

Many gardeners take the Papirovka apple variety for another apple type - White filling. They are really similar, but there are certain differences between the varieties that do not allow us to speak of complete similarity. For example, Papirovka has the following characteristics:

  • the fruits are larger;
  • have a sour taste;
  • the presence of a seam on the skin;
  • winter hardiness is lower.

The apple tree is recognized as the leading early summer variety. The fruits can be harvested at the end of July. Included in the State Register in all regions, except for the Urals, the Far East and East Siberia.

Additional Information! The name "Papirovka" is translated from Polish and Ukrainian as "paper".

Detailed description of the apple tree Papirovka:

  • begins to bear fruit 3-4 years after planting;
  • trees are medium in size (about 7 meters);
  • trunk color - light gray;
  • green leaves are slightly drooping;
  • high yield level - up to 80 kilograms of apples can be harvested from one mature tree;
  • tolerates winter frosts well, but in the northern regions it is recommended to insulate the trunk;
  • trees live up to 60 years.

Note! In especially fruitful years, up to 200 kg of apples can be harvested from an apple tree. However, the next year the yield drops several times.

This varietal apple tree prefers a temperate continental climate. She loves warm summers and not too cold winters, so the ideal place for growing is the Baltics. But with proper care, it is capable of bearing fruit in almost all regions of Russia.

Important! The variety does not tolerate climate change.

Apples have the following characteristics:

  • medium in size, weighing about 100 g;
  • have a green-yellowish tint and sweet and sour taste (they make very appetizing apple juices and compotes);
  • there is no blush;
  • the pulp is tender and juicy;
  • thin skin.

It is necessary to harvest on time. Ripe fruits do not crumble, but are poorly stored. When ripe, they become mealy and hard. The optimal shelf life is no more than one month. Therefore, it is grown near industrial centers and near cities to compensate for the low keeping quality.

Apple tree Papirovka

The apple tree is not pretentious to pollination and pollinators. It is enough only that they bloom at the same time and have enough pollen.

Major pollinators include:

  • Grushovka Moscow;
  • Bellefleur-Chinese;
  • Anise striped.

It is often used as a starting material in breeding. On the basis of Papirovka, more than 20 new varieties have been bred, which have become widely known in Russia. Among them are: Ural liquid, Papirovka's Daughter, Glory to the Peremogians and many others. Breeding continues today. It is possible that domestic gardeners will soon receive even more interesting varieties.

Recommendations for agricultural technology

Folding is not whimsical in leaving, it is enough to follow only certain rules.

To choose the right seedling, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  • it is best to take an apple tree that has already reached 1 year (in this case, it will not have any branches, and it will be able to take root better in a new place);
  • the root system should look whole, be moist and at the same time be in a lump of soil;
  • the root should be white in section (if there is a brown tint, then it is already frozen);
  • the stem should not fall off.

When landing, you must choose the right place. The apple tree loves well-lit places, preferably near other trees. Experienced gardeners plant Papirovka in March or April.

Please note that trees are recommended to be planted at a distance of 5 meters from each other. There should be at least 2-3 meters to the country house or fence.

Before planting, you need to dig a hole 80-85 cm deep and fertilize the soil. This must be done a week before planting so that the soil reaches the required temperature.

It is imperative to prepare a peg that will hold the trunk in the early stages. It must be placed in the pit at the same time as planting the seedling.

A young apple tree is gently lowered into a damp hole so as not to damage the roots, lightly tamped and then watered again.

No need for abundant watering too much

As care, there are three large stages:

  1. Spring. The apple tree must be trimmed: dried and frozen branches are removed before buds appear. Gardeners inspect the trunk and bark. In case of damage, cover with garden lime.
  2. Summer. It is important to ensure regular watering while maintaining moisture in the soil. As a prophylaxis against pests and diseases, they are sprayed with pharmaceuticals (insecticides and / or fungicides). It is advisable to do this before flowering.
  3. Autumn. Gardeners should feed, whitewash the trunks and once again treat them with special pest control agents.

The apple tree has good disease and pest resistance. However, prolonged winter colds and severe droughts can weaken it. It should also be remembered that the infection can be transmitted from a nearby tree or plant.

Pests are most attracted to the crown, not the apples. Therefore, it is carefully covered and protected in the fall.

Note! The main reason for the appearance of pests and diseases is human inaction. To avoid trouble, it is necessary to regularly inspect the tree and carry out preventive treatment with special means.

To combat scab, milky shine and powdery mildew, timely disinfection must be carried out.

Before flowering, it is recommended to spray with a solution of urea, and after that with a solution of soda ash.

If the branches have become infected with black cancer, cytosporosis or bacterial burn, then it is important to eliminate the lesion. Infected branches must be removed, and new ones must be healed.
