Note! Only female flowers have inflorescences of this variety.

In the description of cucumbers of the Ant variety, it is noted that the plant has medium leaves with small wrinkles and a wavy edge. A distinctive feature of the stem is the presence of a small number of lateral lashes, as well as its small length. On average, 2-7 ovaries appear in one node, the number of which mainly depends on lighting, both on the duration of exposure to light and on its brightness. The height of the bush is medium.

The shape of the cucumber is oval, the surface has a slight ribbing. The sizes of vegetables can reach from 8 to 11 centimeters in length and from 3 to 4 in diameter. The ripe fruit has a weight in the range of 100-110 g. The name of the plant comes from such a small size of cucumbers.

The peel of vegetables is dark green, light stripes stand out. Medium pulp - not dense, not friable. The fruit has no bitterness even under unfavorable conditions.

From gherkins Ant can be made salads, salt, canned both as a whole and in processed form. On average, from 1 sq. m you can collect 10-12 kg of crop.

Note! It has been noticed that cucumbers retain their appearance well during transportation.

Cucumbers Ant does not bear fruit for long. Due to the fact that the hybrid has only female inflorescences, ovaries begin to appear from the very bottom of the cucumber stem. Moreover, even unfavorable weather events do not affect this.

Hybrid gherkins Ant are resistant to diseases:

  • cucumber mosaic virus;
  • olive spot;
  • downy mildew.

Seeds are sown in open soil at the rate of 3 pcs per 1 sq. m. In greenhouses, the number increases to 3-5 pieces.

Growing

In open soil, cucumbers can be planted both as seeds and sprouts. This usually happens already in May. The main condition is a well-warmed earth, up to about 12 degrees.

To obtain seedlings, seeds begin to be sown in the last decade of April. Only sprouts with 3 to 5 leaves are planted in open soil.

Full care for a vegetable after planting includes several stages:

  • weed removal;
  • feeding 3 to 4 times;
  • systematic watering;
  • loosening the soil;
  • bush formation.

Prepared soil for cucumber

So that you do not have to constantly loosen the ground, it can be covered with mulch, so that after watering the ground under it will remain wet for a long time.

The advantage of Ant hybrids is the presence of only female flowers. Due to this, the plant does not have the possibility of crossing with other species. In the garden there will be only clean gherkins that have retained all their original characteristics and properties.
