Characteristics and description of the cucumber variety Kid

Due to its compactness, the bush does not take up much space in the garden. A characteristic feature is short internodes. Leaves are cordate, five-lobed, located close to each other. Flowers are yellow, solitary, dioecious. Under favorable conditions, the ovary is formed after every second leaf.

The predominance of female flowers allows you to get a good harvest: 2 - 2.5 kg of fruits are harvested from one bush, this is about 40 zelents. An early-ripening hybrid is pollinated by bees, so seedlings are planted without a film. From the appearance of the first shoots to harvest, it takes 40 - 45 days. The rhizome of cucumber variety Malysh is pivotal, with numerous branches, it penetrates the ground shallowly.

  • Description of the fruit:

Advantages and disadvantages of Malysh cucumbers

Cucumber variety Kid has many advantages:

  • early maturity - 40 days;

Growing features

Seed preparation

It is better to buy planting material from trusted manufacturers, carefully studying the instructions and expiration dates on the label. Usually purchased seeds go through all processing and are immediately ready for planting.

Important! It is better not to buy placer seeds, they can be infected with fungus.

The seeds collected by themselves are sorted out, rotten, sick are discarded. Two days before disembarkation, they are soaked in a weak manganese solution for 15 minutes. Then washed, dried, placed in a damp gauze cloth until planting. You can soak the seed in a weak solution of nitrophoska, then leave it in the refrigerator for hardening for 2 hours. Cucumbers are planted in the area where tomatoes, potatoes, legumes, corn grew.

The soil

Cucumbers love soil loose, non-acidic, pH 6-6.8. Sandy loamy, loamy soil will be ideal. The place for vegetables is chosen sunny. Although a little shade will not hurt, on hot days it will protect you from the scorching rays.

The beds are fertilized in the fall, after harvest. A bucket of mullein is brought in per square meter, the earth is dug up. In the spring, a week before planting, add ammonium nitrate (15 g per 1 square) and ash. The soil on which the relatives of the cucumber from the pumpkin family grew is not suitable for planting a vegetable crop.

Attention! Clay soil is mulched with peat.

Planting seeds of cucumbers varieties Malysh

In the southern regions of the country, seed is planted at the end of April, by which time the earth will warm up to 13-15 degrees. If spring is late, it is better to postpone the landing until May. A heat-loving culture will not grow in cold soil. The maximum temperature for growth is 25-28 degrees, intense heat can destroy plants.

A week before planting the seeds, they dig up a garden bed, scatter peat, compost, humus (5 kg per 1 sq. M.). With a rake they level the ground, tamp it. After 6 days, a furrow is made with a depth of 2 cm, the gap between them is 50 cm.

Dry or soaked seeds are spread at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other. From above they cover it with earth a little, lightly press the soil, water it. Before the emergence of seedlings, the site is covered with a dark film material, this will accelerate germination and save seedlings from the night cold. The beds are mulched with hay, compost, humus, then watered. Mulch will prevent the crust from growing, this will improve the condition of the cucumbers.

Advice! A dense planting provokes disease, so the thickets should be thinned out.

Seedling method

In cold regions of the country, for early harvesting of fruits, they use the seedling method of planting vegetables, the harvest is obtained 2 weeks earlier than if the seeds are sown directly into the ground.

In late March - early April, seeds are sown in containers. The soil consists of peat, sawdust, humus, earth (1: 1: 1: 1). For 10 kg of the mixture, add 2 tablespoons of ash, 1 spoon of nitrophosphate. The components are mixed and laid out in containers. The seeds are also grown in peat pellets without damaging the plant roots.

The seeds are laid out in the interval of 10-15 cm, deepening by 2 cm. Water, cover with a film until sprouts appear, then the film material is removed. The first shoots appear 6 to 8 days after sowing. Seedlings are watered once a week. When 3 leaves are formed, the seedlings dive - they are transplanted into an individual container.

After 4-5 weeks, the young are ready for planting in the garden. By this time, each seedling has 5-6 green leaves. Before planting, the seedlings are hardened: for two hours every day they are taken out into the street. The time is gradually increased.

The day before transplanting the seedlings, the beds are watered with a solution of copper sulfate: for 1 teaspoon 10 liters of warm water, consumption per 1 sq. meter 3 liters. The seedlings are placed at a distance of 50 cm from each other, the holes are made to the depth of the plant roots, the seedlings are planted vertically.

Important! Do not pinch off the tip on a branch to form a new branch.

Baby cucumber care

It is easier to care for bush varieties than for climbing plants. To achieve good yields, some rules are followed.

Cucumbers love water, water them every 7 days, in hot weather 2-3 times a week. Watering is carried out at the root so that moisture does not get on the foliage. Watered with settled water, the optimum temperature is 18-22 degrees. A strong stream exposes the roots; a drip irrigation system is more suitable. Water stagnation should not be allowed, this leads to rotting of the rhizome. At low humidity, the ovaries fall off. The bushes are fed 3-4 times during the growing season. The first time - during the flowering period, then every 12 days.Be sure to do top dressing during the formation of the ovaries. Nutrient solution: for 9 liters of water, a teaspoon of potassium, superphosphate, urea and a glass of manure. It takes 3 liters of the mixture per square of earth. Nitrogen is used in limited quantities, it is important to add phosphorus to the soil. When the fruits ripen, the plants are watered with herbal infusion (9 liters of water 1 liter of the mixture): any grass, without flowers, is chopped, poured with water, left to ferment for 8 days.

Soil loosening, weeding, weed harvesting.

The bushes do not support the weight of the ripe fruit, so harvesting should be done every 3 days.
When plants are affected by fungal diseases, a solution of laundry soap and fungicides are used.
For the prevention of spider mites in the fall, the beds are sown with mustard.

Important! You cannot plant cucumbers in the same garden for two years in a row.

As a preventive measure against diseases, the bushes are sprayed with a solution of colloidal sulfur.

Cucumber care

Storing cucumbers

6 weeks after sowing, in July, the first fruits are harvested. Abundant fruiting lasts 12-15 days. Tearing off, leave a small tail on the cucumber without damaging the skin. The stems do not need to be turned over. Vegetables are stored for 8-10 days in a cool dark place.

In the south of the country, the harvest of Malysh sugar cucumbers is harvested for the second time at the end of September. Cucumbers are eaten fresh, in salads, preserved and salted. Zelentsy in jars remain crispy and do not lose their shape.
