Potatoes are almost always present in the everyday menu of an ordinary person. Breeders have bred a huge number of its varieties, differing in external and other parameters, but invariably tasty. One of them "Malinovka", was bred at the very beginning of the XXI century at the All-Union Research Institute of Potato Farming named after the founder of seed potato growing A.G. Lorkha and entered the State Register as a separate variety in 2004.

Description of the variety

Robin is considered a resistant variety, which is not afraid of both low and high temperatures with low humidity, therefore, such varietal potatoes can be grown in any corner of our country, it bears fruit best in the Central and Central Black Earth regions. With proper, simple care, the variety responds with a good harvest - the yield ranges from 35 to 40 tons per hectare. Moreover, the keeping quality of this variety of root crops is about 96 percent, i.e. loss of potatoes with proper storage is only 4 percent.

Potatoes come to the ripening stage closer to autumn, since they are a medium-late variety, the growing season is 3.5-4 months.

Potatoes Robin

Tubers "Robins" are round-oval elongated, with an average weight in the range of 90-100 grams, from 6 to 10 root crops usually ripen on a bush, the starchiness parameter is about 18 percent. The peel of this potato variety has a smooth, with a small number of eyes, raspberry-pinkish color.

Potato bushes of this variety are of medium height - up to 0.8 meters, upright plants of the stem type. The number of leaves is average, they are dark green, rather large, with a rough surface, the edges are wavy. Closer to the moment of ripening, the bush is "distributed" on the sides. Blossoms "Robin" small in size, purple with numerous flowers, from which a small number of berries are obtained. The plant grows in groups of 6-10 bushes.

Consumer characteristics

The variety of potatoes "Malinovka" has excellent taste, according to its nutritional properties, it is suitable for cooking and frying until crispy, you can also make mashed potatoes and potato soup. When cutting and rubbing, the pulp does not darken. Due to the small size and number of eyes and thin peel, peeling Robin potatoes is easy and pleasant.

The peculiarity of the Robin is that the color of the insides of young potatoes does not change as the harvest ripens.

Among the advantages that this potato variety possesses are:

  • good stable yield;
  • standard size of tubers and good taste;
  • resistance to low humidity and temperature;
  • immune to potato crayfish and common scab, resistant to nematodes and ring rot.

There are practically no shortcomings in "Malinovka", except perhaps the susceptibility to the causative agent of late blight and fungal diseases of tubers can be noted.

Growing features

This varietal species is propagated with the help of tubers, as a rule, summer residents plant potatoes from the previous harvest from year to year.

Note! After 5-6 years of this practice, the potatoes for planting must be changed, because from year to year they degenerate, diseases accumulate, and the taste property is significantly reduced. To get rid of these problems and increase yields, agricultural techniques are advised to either buy new tubers, or germinate them from seeds.

For cultivation, standard agricultural technology is used, due to the timing of germination, it is recommended to germinate seeds half a month before sowing, in early March.They should be soaked for a couple of days and planted in a soil mixture of garden soil and peat in a ratio of 1 to 4, a step between adjacent seeds 5 cm, and between the rows 10 cm. We must not forget about timely hydration and fertilization.

Seedling potatoes "Malinovka"

Seedlings are planted in open ground by heating it to at least plus 10 degrees, the holes should be at least 10 cm deep.After 110 days, you can already collect young potatoes and eat them without even peeling off the thin skin.

Towards the end of summer, the tops become dark and the skin is rough, you can start harvesting. The harvested potatoes should be dried for a couple of days in the shade with good ventilation. You can store it in the cellar by folding it into boxes or nets.

Russian summer residents and farmers liked the new variety of table potatoes, named for the characteristic color of the skin "Malinovka". It has a tasty juicy pulp, does not require special care and gives a good harvest.
