Equestrian sport is at its peak. Both jockeys and fans alike give preference to their favorite horse breeds. Each horse has certain advantages and disadvantages. One of the best breeds is the Lipizzan.

History of the creation of the breed

The Lipizzan horse was bred in the 16th century for a specialized Spanish riding school that uses only this breed. They were first born in a village called Lipica, which is located in Slovenia (at that time - the territory of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), on the border with Italy. From the place of origin of the species, they were given the name - Lipitsian. In literature (even specialized) they are also called: Lippizan, Lippisan and even Lipizzan.

Breed development

The roots of the Lipizzan breed go back to the Iberian Peninsula. On it, the Arabs crossed their horses with the original Pyrenean species. A cross between these living blood gave rise to the Spanish horses popular in the Middle Ages. At the end of the 15th century, these animals again began to mate with Arab brothers, and horses of Neapolitan blood were also added. And it was after all these manipulations that the Lipizzan horses appeared.

The growth of horses rarely exceeds 150 cm, with the exception of representatives of the harness line of the breed. They are characterized by the ideal shape of the hooves, strong, muscular legs, expressive eyes and a lush horse tail.

  • each horse must be cleaned twice a day;
  • after training, the horse must rest, dry, and only after that they are bathed at a water temperature no higher than 18 degrees;
  • for the selection of food, you need to contact professional grooms who can determine the optimal diet for an individual;
