The blood of dairy calves is a valuable pharmacological raw material for the creation of dry deproteinized dialysate. On its basis, drugs have been created: "Actovegin" and "Solcoseryl".

Calf blood and tissue preparations

The blood and brain of large horned animals, in particular cows and pigs, is used in the production of medicines: Actovegin, Solcoseryl, Cortexin, Cerebrolezin. The last two names of drugs contain polypeptides of the cerebral cortex of animals. Currently, only "Actovegin" and "Solcoseryl" are produced, the preparations are deproteinized hemodialysates of calf blood.

Calf blood hemoderivative

Calf blood hemoderivative - what is it? The prerequisite for the creation of the medicine was the talk of Alpine shepherds about the rapid healing of wounds in dairy calves. Scientists have found that one of the blood components activates regeneration. The production of the drug by the pharmaceutical trading company Nycomed began in 1996. Producers - Austria and Germany. Up to 70% of the production volume is sold in Russia and the CIS.

Calf blood extract, or deproteinized hemoderivat, is a protein-free derivative of calf blood. The drug is produced by hemodialysis (decomposition) and ultrafiltration technology. It contains low-molecular elements of cell mass and blood serum of young calves. The medication contains amino acids, fatty acids, micro- and macronutrients, oligopeptides. To obtain 1 g of deproteinized dialysate, you need about 40 g of dried blood hemoderivative.

Calf blood hemoderivative

Since the preparation consists entirely of natural biomaterials, there are practically no contraindications.

Veal blood dialysate has found wide application in medicine:

  • activates the transport of oxygen to organs and tissues, enhancing metabolism;
  • normalizes the absorption of glucose, as well as its transfer to depleted and hypoxic cells;
  • the process of cleavage of ATP (adenosine triphosphoric acid) is activated, its concentration increases, which leads to an increase in energy in the cells;
  • activates tissue regeneration;
  • increases the number of essential amino acids.

Preparations with deproteinized hemoderivat are prescribed for the treatment of the following diseases:

  • poor blood circulation in the brain and blood vessels;
  • ischemic stroke;
  • cranial trauma, cerebral bleeding;
  • varicose veins, diseases of the veins of the legs, trophic ulcers;
  • endarteritis;
  • apoplexy;
  • psychosis;
  • diabetic gangrene;
  • angiopathy;
  • radiation exposure.

Hemoderivative deproteinized calf blood is used against many eye diseases. It is indicated for burns, inflammation, the genesis of corneal ulcers. It is prescribed by doctors before and after corneal transplant surgery, after radiation damage to the eyes. Calf blood preparation also helps to eliminate defects in the corneal epithelium due to the use of contact lenses.

How to take Actovegin

Actovegin is released in the form of a solution for injection, ointment or gel, as well as in tablet form. In what form to take the drug, the doctor decides, based on the diagnosis.

Actovegin injections

The injectable form of Actovegin is available in ampoules, injected into a vein, artery, and also intramuscularly.To test for allergies, 2 ml of the drug is administered intramuscularly.

The initial dosage of Actovegin administration is from 10 to 20 cm3 / day. The injection is given intravenously or into an artery. The following portions - 5 ml are injected daily into a muscle or vein. Do not exceed the daily volume of administration, which is no more than 2 cm3 / minute.

For the infusion of Actovegin, a mixture of 10-20 cm3 of the derivative, 200-300 ml of saline, 5% dextrose is prepared. All parameters of the injection (duration, volume, dose size) are set by the doctor. The opened ampoule should not be stored, the cloudy solution should be thrown away. Actovegin injections are indicated for diseases of the brain, vascular disorders, stroke, wound healing, radiation sickness.

Actovegin tablets

The tablet form of the drug is taken, in accordance with the diagnosis:

  1. Dementia. 2 tablets 3 times a day. The course is 20 weeks.
  2. Post-stroke recovery. After 20 infusions, they switch to tablets. Reception - up to 10 times a day. The course is 25 weeks.
  3. Disturbances of peripheral blood flow. 3-6 tablets every day. The course is 4 to 6 weeks.
  4. Damage to nerve endings due to diabetes. After 20 infusions, take 9 tablets every day. The course is 18-22 weeks.

Each Actovegin pill contains 200 mg of hemoderivat. The tablets are washed down with water before eating. You don't need to chew them.

Cream, gel Actovegin

As an external agent, deproteinized hemoderivat is used in the form of a cream and gel. It is colorless, has no taste, and has the smell of meat broth. At the first stages of therapy, it is recommended to use Actovegin gel. The lack of grease makes it easy to wash off with water. After drying and tightening of ulcers and wounds, they switch to using a cream.

Ointment from the blood of young calves is used 2 times / day, the course is 12 days or more. The cream can be used under a bandage. Allowed during pregnancy and lactation. Actovegin restores and heals the skin, restores their sensitivity. It helps to remove marks from acne, post acne.

Local use of Actovegin is used for wounds, burns, dermatitis, bedsores, injuries and inflammatory processes on the skin and mucous membranes, weeping eczema, ulcers due to varicose veins, skin reactions to radiation exposure.

Actovegin substitutes

Solcoseryl cream or gel, similar to Actovegin, also consists of calf blood with the removed protein. The medication has the same indications, with the addition of diseases of the organs of vision and oral cavity.

Cream, gel Actovegin

Solcoseryl is used:

  1. With corneal injuries. Use 2 drops of gel every 6 hours. After the introduction of the gel, you must lie for 5 minutes with your eyes closed. After 4-5 days, relief comes.
  2. With hyperemia due to the use of hard contact lenses. 1 drop of gel every 6 hours.
  3. With conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, dystrophic lesions. 2 drops under the eyelid 3 times a week.

Important! After the processing of the organs of vision, a decrease in visibility is observed, therefore it is forbidden to get behind the wheel.

Solcoseryl is prescribed by dentists for oral ulcers, weeping wounds of the lips and face, mucous membranes and gums. The gel is applied to the cleansed and disinfected wound surface. The action is carried out after a meal, since you cannot eat for 3 hours. Repeat the application of the gel before bedtime.

Cerebrolysin is an analogue of Actovegin, produced in ampoules and administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The preparation is based on pig brain peptides. The medication is used to eliminate the effects of Alzheimer's disease, stroke, brain injuries. An analogue of Cerebrolysin is the cheaper drug Cinnarizin.

Cortexin is a lyophilisate extracted from the cerebral cortex of cattle or pigs. The action of the Actovegin analogue is aimed at activating the energy metabolism of the brain, improving intracellular protein synthesis.It is used for problems with head circulation, epilepsy, vegetative-vascular dystonia, cerebral palsy, encephalitis and encephalomyelitis, asthenia, traumatic brain injury, delayed psychomotor and speech development in children and other diseases. The solution is administered intramuscularly.

Advice from veterinarians

Derivative drugs are also used in the treatment of animals from scratches, bites, eye injuries, and strokes.

Actovegin (Cortexin, Cerebrolysin) belongs to the class of nootropics of animal origin. It is used to improve cognitive performance and neutralize toxic compounds in cats and dogs. Reduces irritability and fear, improves learning ability, strengthens the immune system.

For injuries and problems with the spine, Actovegin improves glucose and oxygen metabolism in damaged tissues. Ointment and gel Actovegin, Solcoseryl are used in the treatment of bites and wounds without large blood loss. Veterinarians advise to first wash the lesion with an antiseptic, such as 3% hydrogen peroxide. At the first stage of treatment, Levomekol is used, then they switch to Actovegin (Solcoseryl - with a dry wound) until the injury is completely healed.

Eye gel Actovegin in combination with intramuscular injections of Actovegin will help against eye injuries. To reduce pain in the animal, it is recommended to dilute the drug with Novocaine.

Note! The dosage of drugs must be agreed with the veterinarian, since it is selected individually for each animal.

Deproteinized hemoderivative of bovine blood has almost no contraindications. But before using the product, you must consult a doctor. A tendency to allergies, problems with urination, heart and lungs are contraindications to taking the drug.
