In appearance and habits, the goose resembles a duck and a swan. Despite the endurance and unpretentiousness of this bird, a room is needed to keep it - a goose.

Gusyatnik consists of the following structures:

  • Poultry house equipped with feeders, drinkers, nests;
  • Outdoor areas for walking geese;
  • An artificial pond if there is no natural body of water nearby.

The article will discuss what, what and how to make a pen for geese with your own hands.

Gooseneck requirements

The goose maker must meet the following requirements:

· The house should be comfortable, dry and warm. The microclimate parameters in it are as follows: the optimum humidity is 60-70%, the temperature is within 22-24 ° С.

Geese

· Good ventilation for air circulation in the house. In this case, the presence of drafts is not allowed.

· Reliability of the structure against the penetration of predators (foxes, weasels).

Room size

The size of the goose depends on the number of individuals that will be in it. The norm for keeping one bird is at least 1 sq. meters. Otherwise, severe contamination cannot be avoided, which means infections and diseases of the bird.

To make the house for the geese more convenient, the room is divided into compartments using a metal mesh. Each of them contains a certain number (30, 40, 50) individuals of the same breed.

Even if the flock is small, there should be 2 compartments: one for adult birds, the other for goslings. In addition, free passageways are needed for cleaning, places for feeders, drinkers, nests.

For staying in the air, they will equip an aviary for geese, outdoor areas with a canopy from the weather.

Goose

Choosing a location

The place for the goose is chosen high, not far from ponds, ditches, if there are any nearby. Then the birds do not have to look for where to swim and cool off in the heat.

It is advisable that a grassy meadow is located nearby for summer grazing, since geese feed mainly on pasture.

The area allotted for walking for adult geese should be large. Walking for goslings is done with their own hands from improvised means. Using posts, netting and wire, they obstruct the pen for young animals, sometimes it is of a portable design.

Note! To keep the chicks out of the kite, a goose cage is often made that can be easily moved around the lawn.

DIY pen construction

For poultry to generate income, costs must be kept to a minimum. Therefore, the goose pen is usually built independently, purchasing cheap materials, using the leftovers from the construction. But, despite the budget option, they build it according to all the rules of construction.

For the construction of any building, calculation is required at every stage. What work to be done:

  • Structural design taking into account the size of the goose-house;
  • Choosing a place for building, marking the site;
  • Arrangement of the strip foundation;
  • Erection of walls, roofs, floors, their insulation.

Project

It's easy to sketch it, just a pencil and paper. The dimensions of the future structure are applied on the drawing, while taking into account which herd will be contained in it.If, for example, you need a shed for 10 geese, then a room with an area of 3 × 4 m is sufficient.Other dimensions:

  • height - 2.2-2.3 m;
  • windows - 50 × 70 cm, must be opened for ventilation.
  • bird hole - 50 × 50 cm.

    Goose

The layout of the room indicates the location and size of the compartments, passages. A nest for a goose is arranged in a dark place, measuring 60 × 50 × 60 cm.

If desired, a goose-bed of this size can be built in the country and a small personal plot.

Plot marking

Using a tape measure, a cord, pegs mark the location of the goose bumpkin in the selected place. A trench is made around the perimeter of the marks, 50 cm deep and 30 cm wide, under the foundation. Since wood, foam blocks are most often used for the construction of a poultry house, it is enough to arrange a monolithic strip foundation.

Foundation

A layer of sand (about 10 cm) is poured at the bottom of the trench, then a layer of rubble, everything is tamped.

Under the pouring of the foundation around the perimeter of the trench, formwork from boards is installed, 25 cm above the ground. Also, openings for vents in the foundation should be provided in the formwork.

The mortar for pouring the support base is prepared from a mixture of sand and cement in a 3: 1 ratio. After a couple of weeks, when the solution hardens, they begin to build the walls. First, waterproofing of the foundation is made, for which roofing material is laid on its horizontal surface.

Goose

Walls

They can be made from wood, foam blocks, bricks. If the keeping of geese is seasonal (from May to October), then a structure of wooden beams, sheathed with boards, is most acceptable. The frame construction technology is simple:

  • From a non-planed beam 100 × 100 mm, a lower strapping is made in the form of a frame, which is fixed to the foundation. You can fix the floor joists in parallel to it.
  • Corner supports are fixed to the strapping along the perimeter with steel corners. For rigidity, the lower harness and supports are fastened with jibs.
  • Then the upper harness is mounted from the bars.
  • Along the perimeter, vertical supports from the beams are fixed to the finished straps.
  • When installing the frame, the location of doors, windows, manhole is taken into account.

When the frame of the structure is completely ready, they begin to cover it using edged boards.

To protect the room from the wind and preserve heat, a film with a thickness of 200 microns is fixed on the walls inside, then plywood sheets, OSB boards, drywall.

To reduce the cost, the frame is constructed from a bar of a smaller section, sheathed with unedged boards. Remnants of any suitable material are used for the inner wall cladding.

Goose

Thus, building a do-it-yourself goose house for 10 geese is not difficult. But the non-insulated wooden structure is only suitable for seasonal keeping of geese. Serious insulation of all parts of the goose bed is required if the geese are planned to be kept all year round.

Selection of material and calculation of its quantity

You can build a small poultry house with your own hands for keeping geese and chickens with your own hands, without the involvement of specialists. You can't do without buying building materials.

The following materials are used for the poultry house:

  • Non-planed beams (100 × 100 mm, 50 × 150 mm), thick logs, boards (edged 25 × 150 mm, unedged);
  • Foam blocks;
  • One-and-a-half silicate bricks (250 × 120 × 88 mm).

Roll and tile heaters:

  • mineral wool;
  • ecowool;
  • Styrofoam.

    Goose

Roof covering:

  • slate;
  • shingles;
  • roofing material.

The amount of each material is calculated based on its size and the area of that part of the structure (wall, ceiling, floor) that will be laid out, sheathed, insulated.

For example, knowing the height and length of the foam blocks, they determine how many of them are needed for laying a wall with an area of 1 sq. m. The amount of insulation, roofing and cladding material is calculated in a similar way.

Gooseneck Construction Tools

To complete the work you will need:

  • entrenching tools - bayonet shovel, shovel;
  • power tools (screwdriver, electric drill, electric saw);
  • measuring instruments (level, plumb line, square, tape measure);
  • concrete mixer.

Do-it-yourself winter goose for 20 geese

Consider building a house for the winter. If they plan to keep a small herd of 20 geese in the courtyard, then you can build a room for them yourself. First of all, they decide what building material the goose house will be made of.

 Many people prefer the foam block option for the following reasons:

  • porous structure provides air intake;
  • high thermal insulation;
  • quick installation when erecting walls;
  • durability during operation;
  • fire resistance;
  • affordable price.

Construction stages

Walls

To keep warm, the thickness of the walls of the shed should be 25 cm. The dimensions of the foam blocks (their height ranges from 20 to 25 cm, width - from 25 to 50 cm, length - more than 60 cm) allow you to build walls of the required thickness and of any size.

Little goose

They begin laying blocks on the finished foundation using a special glue or a solution of sand and cement (3: 1).

For the rigidity of the structure in the first and every 4th row, grooves (grooves) are made in the blocks, in which metal rods are laid, with a cross section of at least 5 mm. Thanks to the enlarged format of foam blocks, walls are erected quickly.

At the end of the masonry, a monolithic concrete belt is poured along the entire perimeter of the walls under the ceiling ceilings and rafters for the roof.

Since a room made of foam blocks retains heat well, only the shed ceiling is insulated.

Roof

  • Install the rafters
  • The crate is fixed to the rafters from the unedged board.

On a note. It is better to mount a single-pitched roof. Less material consumption and easier installation.

Floor

  • Unedged boards of the subfloor are placed on the logs, and then the final one. Sometimes it is made of concrete, it is more durable and does not rot, but it will be cold.
  • Any floor is then insulated with a thick bedding of straw, sawdust. As it gets dirty, it is constantly changed.

Goose-house equipment in winter

Lighting

Geese begin to rush at the end of winter, but on condition that the room is light 12-14 hours. Therefore, in winter, additional sources of lighting are needed in the poultry house.

Heating

If the winter is too harsh, and the goose-house is poorly insulated, then portable heaters are installed, while observing the fire safety law.

Exhaust ventilation

To ventilate the room in winter, ventilation pipes are installed in the wall above the aisle and windows, extending outside. The dampers allow you to regulate the flow of cold air.

Useful Tips

  • It is better to start breeding geese from a small herd. It is not difficult to build a house for keeping geese.
  • It is better to equip the goose house on the southern side of the site - it will be better illuminated and warmed up.
  • The goose eats a lot and can get fat quickly. But the purpose of breeding is not only goose fat, but above all, tasty meat. Therefore, more green feed is introduced into his diet.

Thus, the desire to start breeding geese is not enough, you still have to work hard.
