Broiler chicken is the most profitable beef breed. Already in the second month from birth, chickens reach a live weight of up to 2 kg. To achieve rapid growth in live weight of chickens, it is important to know the basic rules of how to feed broilers at home for rapid growth.

Growing broiler chickens

Broiler chickens are ready for slaughter 2-2.5 months after birth. The ratio of the amount of consumed feed to the finished slaughter weight is significantly lower than that of other meat breeds of chickens. Therefore, broilers are the most common and profitable meat breed, both for domestic use and for commercial purposes.

Broilers

General rules for keeping and how to feed broiler chickens to gain weight quickly:

  1. High-quality correct feed containing cereals (corn, wheat, barley, oats, sunflower seeds).
  2. Adequate amounts of natural plant foods (vegetables, food waste, grass, freshly cut hay with a variety of herbs).
  3. Strict adherence to the recommended diet.
  4. The containment area should be warm, dry, well-ventilated and spacious. There must be a litter of dry loose mass (hay, straw, sawdust), a layer of no more than 10 cm.
  5. Fresh clean drinking water at room temperature. Drinkers should be washed daily with hot water and laundry soap to avoid the development of gastrointestinal and infectious diseases in chickens.
  6. Timely preventive and therapeutic measures for viral and infectious diseases. If you suspect a disease, you need to consult a veterinarian who will help determine the presence of the disease and suggest the most effective treatment regimens.

Rapid growth and weight gain for broilers is provided by special factory chicken feed. However, the taste of meat is significantly lost.

Note! The meat of chickens raised on natural plant feed significantly exceeds the taste of chickens raised on factory feed.

Feeding for fast growth and weight gain

At home, feeding the broiler breed of birds is carried out:

  • Factory feed ("start - start - feed - finish"),
  • Compound feed, household vegetable waste,
  • Additional products (dairy products, fish waste, grated vegetables, yeast, bone meal).

Factory feed slightly increases the cost of chickens and slightly worsens the palatability. Therefore, for your own auxiliary breeding and consumption, it is recommended to use natural compound feed. They can be purchased in the markets, you can prepare yourself.

Feeding for fast growth and weight gain

Feeding is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • 0-5 day... Special living conditions are required, round-the-clock dim light (preferably green or red), temperature regime - not lower than 26 ° C. Feeding 8 times a day at regular intervals. The menu should include: grated boiled eggs, fresh dill, grated cottage cheese, clean warm water. You can add food "Prestart" to the diet, but not more than 20-25 gr. per day for 1 chicken.
  • 6-10 days. You can add new products to the diet: finely grated carrots, chalk (or ground shells, eggshells), fish oil, vitamin and mineral complexes, soaked feed, crushed sunflower seeds, fresh herbs, nutritional yeast. Factory-made Starter feed can be added.
  • 11-20 days. Meals are served 6 times a day. The diet is supplemented with new products: boiled potatoes, steamed compound feed (from oats, corn, barley, peas), fresh chopped grass. Bone meal can be given.
  • 21-30 days... Feeding is carried out in 4 doses and includes the whole complex of crushed cereals (barley, peas, soybeans, sunflower meal, wheat), compound feed, corn flour, green grass, and household waste. It is better to dilute dry compound feeds with sour milk or yogurt. This gives good growth and weight gain.
  • 31-55 days. Feed should be 2 times a day with whole grains soaked in dry compound feed. You can add Finish factory feed to your diet. Crushed chalk, crushed shells, bone meal, fish waste, vitamin and mineral complexes must be present in the diet.

Important! Do not keep broilers for more than 55 days, as this is impractical. Chickens will no longer grow, they will also no longer be able to gain weight, and their taste is deteriorating.

Thinking about what and how to feed broiler chickens at home for rapid growth, it is important to understand that the taste and rapid growth of chickens depend on correctly selected natural ingredients, grain mixtures, vitamin complexes.

Important! It is not recommended to give chickens fresh fish, beets in order to avoid upsetting the gastrointestinal tract.

Feeding with compound feed is carried out in 2 types:

  • ¾ Dry - factory granular composition.
  • ¾ Wet (so called mash) - complete concentrated feed soaked in whey, milk, meat or fish broth.

The most preferred way of feeding is homemade mash. It should include: cereals, vegetables, tops of plants, sunflower cake, bone meal. It is possible to add other components to the mash: chalk, germinated wheat grains, etc.

The mixture is poured with hot liquid, allowed to brew for 20 minutes and cool. Monthly chicks on this fattening quickly gain weight and grow well.

Growth stimulants

For successful and fast growing of broiler chickens on subsidiary plots, natural growth stimulants can be included in the feeding of broiler chickens. They include essential micro- and macronutrients, vitamins and minerals, enzymes, and prebiotics.

The most common growth promoters for broiler chicks are:

  1. Ganaminovit - a water-soluble multivitamin preparation. Normalizes metabolism with an insufficiently balanced diet, improves growth and body weight gain of the bird. It is recommended to use after diseases of broilers, preventive vaccinations, deworming.
  2. Avesstim (Brovafarma) - promotes the activation of certain biochemical processes in cells, has an antioxidant immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, detoxifying effect.
  3. Introvit A + - a complex of vitamins and amino acids. Used for the prevention of vitamin deficiency, hypovitaminosis, metabolic disorders, colds and infectious diseases.
  4. Chictonik - promotes increased resistance to infectious diseases, improves metabolic processes, growth and weight gain of broilers.
  5. B.K.M... - complex vitamin preparation. It is used as a prophylactic agent for hypovitaminosis, metabolic disorders, after antibiotic therapy.

Important! It is possible to use a growth stimulator for growing broilers only after consultation and with the permission of a veterinarian, who will tell you the most necessary drug and the appropriateness of its use.

Tips from experienced poultry farmers

You can fatten broilers at home if a month after birth they include in their diet:

  • Wormwood herb, which improves the appetite and growth of the bird,
  • Fresh nettles, dandelions, plant tops, root vegetables, which provide poultry with important vitamins and microelements,
  • Boiled sea fish, rich in omega-6 and omega-3, polyunsaturated fats, amino acids, zinc, phosphorus, calcium,
  • Live yeast (but not more than 2 grams per day for 1 head),
  • Soaked potatoes, cereals (barley, corn, oatmeal),
  • Fresh chopped dill, young grass.

Growing broiler chickens at home is troublesome but profitable. Observing the basic rules and recommendations for keeping, feeding, vaccination, the chickens will grow rapidly and gain weight.

The use of natural feed contributes to obtaining excellent taste of meat rich in vitamins. The taste qualities of broilers raised on natural feed are a class higher than those grown on factory feed. As a master of his craft, the poultry farmer must take into account the age and breed of the bird when feeding. Detect and treat diseases of chickens in a timely manner, in consultation with an experienced poultry veterinarian.
