Breeding chickens in a private backyard is a fairly simple way to provide yourself with meat and eggs. In order for poultry products to be beneficial, it is necessary not only to properly feed the livestock on time, to give them water. The health of adults and young growth is equally important.

Veterinary pharmacology aims to produce specialized products that support the health and reproductive capabilities of domestic animals and birds. These include drugs that increase immunity, vitamins, stimulants, targeted drugs.

Helminthiasis in chickens is the cause of a sharp decrease in weight, a decrease in egg production, and death. He also threatens the person, because parasites are capable of infecting end products - meat, especially offal, eggs, through which a person picks up the disease. Prevention of helminthiasis allows you to avoid these troubles, excludes the reproduction of parasites, infection and death of the livestock.

Alben (tablets): instructions for use in veterinary medicine for chickens

Alben (tablets)

Alben (Albendazole, Tabulettae Albenum, Alben) is a new generation anthelmintic. The active substance is albendazole, characterized by a wide range of effects on:

  • nematodes;
  • cestode;
  • trematodes.

The substance enters the food channels of the parasite, destroys them, leading to death. It also has an ovicidal effect, i.e. able to kill helminths that have not yet hatched from eggs.

The advantages of the drug also include its effective effect on parasites, a single use, and the absence of side effects.

On a note! The remedy does not require preliminary poultry fasting and bowel cleansing with laxatives.

The medicine is released in granules, capsules, tablets, suspensions. They are given orally. In addition to albendazole, it contains lactose, starch and other fillers.

How to use the drug

Alben for worms for chickens is usually used in tablets. The purpose of the drug is treatment, prevention of helminthiasis in poultry of all ages, meat and layers.

Domestic chickens

General instructions for using alben for chickens:

  • The required amount of the drug is calculated as follows: 10 mg per 1 kg of live weight (1 tablet goes to 35 kg of livestock, 1 capsule - to 40 kg).
  • The tablets are ground to a powdery state, mixed with feed.
  • Feed the bird with a mixture of food and medicine in the morning.
  • Application period - 2 days in a row.

Note! An overdose of the drug can cause vomiting, diarrhea, temporary refusal to eat.

Often, bird holders prefer to give alben from worms for chickens in liquid form. If the number of individuals is small, this is not difficult; with a large population, the method is difficult, because you have to water each individual separately. However, alben from worms is given to broilers exactly liquid.

how to give alben to broilers in liquid form:

  • Calculate how much medicine is needed for all birds.
  • Determine the required amount of water based on the average need of the bird at one time.
  • Dissolve the tablets.
  • The solution is injected into the throat using an ordinary medical syringe, but without a needle.

To correctly give alben for broilers to the bird, the dosage with water is determined based on the daily water requirement of one individual.For broiler chickens, it is 1.4-1.6 parts in relation to feed. It is important not to overdrink the bird!

Less commonly, another method is used: the required amount of the product is diluted with a daily portion of water (for all inhabitants of the chicken coop). However, chickens, like humans, drink an unequal amount of water, so this option, although easier, is less effective in treatment.

Additional Information! The water / feed ratio for layers is 2-2.5 / 1, for chickens the proportion is determined by their age.

Features of the drug

You need to know how to use chicken powder

For chickens, alben is used from the moment they begin to walk, from 3-4 weeks of age. Walking in open areas, almost inevitably infected with helminth worms, can lead to the fact that parasites settle on feathers and paws. Therefore, for prophylactic purposes, this preparation is mixed with young animals based on the total calculation by the weight of the birds. Before giving medicine, chickens are not allowed to feed for 2 hours.

Important! The drug is not added to the hot mash.

Alben for chickens kept for egg production is not used if the product is for sale. Domestic hens are treated, but with a caveat: the eggs they carry 4-5 days after treatment can be fed only to boiled young animals or pets.

During seasonal molting, tablets for worms cannot be given, even if there are direct indications for this. They support the bird with folk remedies: pumpkin seeds, pine needles, etc.

Tips & Tricks

Farmers engaged in breeding chickens, with the initial use of the product, pre-give it to a control group of 50-100 individuals. If after 3 days the side effects do not appear, deworming of the entire livestock is carried out.

Correct breeding of poultry

Prevention is carried out annually:

  • in spring, a week before pasture;
  • in the fall 4-5 days before moving to the barn.

Even if the droppings do not show signs of helminth infestation, this does not exclude their presence in the lungs or oviducts. At the same time, they must carry out a general cleaning of the room where the chickens are kept, and 4-5 days after feeding the alben, the droppings are removed from the hen house, more often than usual.

In the evening before the race of worms, chickens are given less feed, and the morning portion, to which the medicine is added, is prepared with the addition of delicacies - potatoes, carrots. Poultry willingly and quickly eat such a mixture to the last crumb along with the medicine.

In private farmsteads, chickens of different ages are usually kept in the same poultry house. To proglist them, usually pills for worms for chickens are used, dissolved in water.

On a note! Poultry farmers note that chickens become infected more often than males.

Farmers do not recommend giving chickens under 3 months of age alben tablets for hens. Carrying out prophylaxis to chicks, it is advisable to use the herb of bitter wormwood, cut into food or give it a decoction instead of water.

Slaughter of poultry after deworming with this agent is carried out no earlier than after 4 days.

Healthy chickens produce healthy foods. Timely prophylaxis of helminthiasis with alben, carried out in accordance with all the rules, will protect all inhabitants of the subsidiary farm from unwanted "lodgers" -parasites.
