Floribunda roses

This group of roses is distinguished by high winter hardiness and long-lasting, in several waves, flowering, as well as resistance to diseases and pests. Floribunda appeared as a result of crossing tea and polyanthus roses. This group of varieties has combined the best characteristics of their predecessors.

The floribunda Rumba rose appeared in Denmark in 1958. The name of the rose comes from the color, which resembles the bright dresses of dancers.

Characteristics of the variety

The description of the floribunda Rumba rose should start with the color of the flower, which changes during the flowering process. When blooming, the rose is bright yellow, then the edges of the petals turn orange or bright red. The flower reaches 7 cm in diameter. The flowers are lush, double, consist of 40 petals.

A feature of this variety is the complete absence of thorns on the plant, it will look very advantageous in the borders.

The Rumba bush is undersized, grows to a height of 0.6 m. The foliage is glossy and dense. Faded flowers dry up and need to be cut, because they do not fall off themselves. The aroma of the flowers is light, unobtrusive.

Rose Rumba is resistant to diseases, rain is also not terrible for her, it is winter-hardy enough.

This rose is versatile in use: suitable for borders (due to the lack of thorns), it will look great in group plantings with other roses and plants.

Planting and leaving

Climbing rose Rumba prefers sunny areas protected from the wind.

Important! It is better to plant low-growing plants near Rumba so that she has enough sunlight.

Planting is done in April and May, after soaking the roots in water. It is necessary to maintain a distance of about 0.3 m between seedlings. During planting, it is not recommended to add fertilizers, especially manure.

The soil should be loose, well-drained, slightly acidic. Gardeners have learned to adapt even poor soils: they add sand and pebbles for drainage, apply fertilizers.

Caring for a rose consists of regular watering and pruning. You need to cut the plant in the fall, and also remove dry flowers during flowering.

Note! You need to fertilize the rose by alternating organic matter and mineral fertilizing.

After the autumn pruning, the bush is treated with an antifungal drug. They cover the plant only when the temperature outside is kept at around -5 C °. Despite the fact that the variety is winter-hardy, it must be wrapped up in Central Russia.

Shelter for the winter is carried out in dry weather. The stems are cleaned of foliage and flowers, bent to the ground and fixed. Then they cover with material that will not let snow or rain pass.
