Characteristics of the New Down rose

Climbing rose New Down is a very hardy plant that can tolerate frost. It is also characterized by vigorous growth, forming many flowers. The peak of flowering occurs in early summer and lasts until the first frost. For this quality, many choose this plant, which is a decoration of the garden all season.

The flowers of the New Down rose have a cup-shaped shape and reach a diameter of 8 cm. The buds are quite dense, soft pink in color, flowers open in a cream shade. The petals do not lose their decorative effect in any weather conditions - both in the sun and in heavy rain. The fact that the faded roses themselves throw off the petals also adds decorativeness to the plant.

One of the characteristics of a rose is its ability to weave, forming long shoots that penetrate literally everywhere. As the flower grows, it forms a large bush and is therefore often used in hedges. The leaves are light green at first, and then gradually darken. Pink flowers on a rich green background look very impressive. Decorativeness is one of the main characteristics in the description of this variety.

The plant grows well along the walls, and is also often attached to high boles, forming a thick, voluminous cap. In order to diversify the color scheme, you can plant clematis nearby.

Planting and leaving

New Dawn is a rose that requires a well-sunlit and sheltered site for planting. The soil should preferably be light. If a rose is supposed to be planted against a wall, it is necessary to maintain a distance of 50 cm from it. This will prevent the roots from drying out. This variety is not cut for the winter, respectively, you need to think about where the whips will fit.

Note!You can not plant a rose in the place where it has already grown. In extreme cases, remove the top layer of soil 50 cm and replace it with a new one.

If a New Down rose is planted at a support, then a hole is dug, retreating 20 cm.The roots are straightened in the opposite direction, and the bush itself is tilted to the support.

The plant is planted both in spring and autumn. The preferred dates are from April 20 to May 20 and from September 1 to October 10. Planting in spring will allow you to monitor the condition of the plant throughout the season, and planting in autumn will ensure the rapid development of cuttings next year. The flower has time to take root before frost.

The plant is fed with mineral fertilizers and organic

The soil next to the rose must be periodically loosened, and weeds must be removed in a timely manner. Watering is carried out as the earth dries up, with warm water, preferably in the evening. It is better that the water does not fall on the leaves. From the end of August, they gradually stop watering the rose.

The plant is fed with mineral and organic fertilizers.In the spring, growing shoots can be stimulated with a solution of Zircon or Epin-Extra. Processing is carried out in the evening, as the preparations decompose in the sun.

With the onset of active flowering, nitrogen-containing products are not added. When budding, they are fed with a complex fertilizer with microelements. Periodically, a little ash is poured on the flower.

Rose New Down is unpretentious in care. The main difficulty is to form a bush that grows rapidly. This should be done when the plant is still small. When a garter is used, twine is used so as not to injure the stems. The following schemes are usually used:

  • when planting against a wall, the bush is straightened in the form of a fan - this ensures air access and the possibility of active development of lateral shoots;
  • when relying on a pillar, the branches are twisted in a spiral;
  • at the trellis, the roses are placed horizontally, the side shoots rise up, and the flowers are evenly distributed over the plant.

For the winter, the rose is covered, in regions where the temperature drops below -18 ° C. In warmer areas this is not necessary. To begin with, the rose is removed from the support and all the leaves are removed. Check the integrity of the shoots for flowering in the following periods.

Note! In 2018, New Down rose seedlings appeared in stores, which bloom only once a season, that is, they do not have repair properties.

If there are more than 10 shoots on the bush, then all those older than 3 years are cut out. Weak, dried and diseased branches are also removed. Further, all the lashes are tied and carefully bent to the ground, fixing with pegs. Then the plant is covered with soil or sand. It is better not to take the earth directly from under the flower, because there is a risk of exposing the roots. At the end, the flower is covered with a film.

Reproduction

The New Dawn rose variety can be propagated by cuttings. In August, planting material is prepared from the increase for the current year. A little stronger shoots will do. There should be at least three leaves on the handle, cut off everything except the topmost one. Next, the shoots are placed on the garden bed, buried by about ⅔ and covered with a film.

In the spring, if the cuttings are strong enough, they can be planted in permanent places. If the seedlings have not yet gained the necessary strength, then they are left until next year.

Diseases and pests

Rose New Down rarely gets sick and is attacked by insects. The most common diseases are powdery mildew and bark cancer. For the purpose of prevention and treatment, Bordeaux mixture is used. The affected parts of the plant must be cut off and burned in a timely manner.

From insects on a flower, aphids or spider mites can start. An effective folk remedy for them will be an infusion of horsetail or nettle.
