Planting a rose

Watering

Watering is carried out as the soil dries. Up to 10 liters of water are consumed per bush.

Important! For irrigation, use warm, settled water.

When irrigating, care must be taken to ensure that water does not fall on the bush. It is poured at the base in small portions. To determine the diameter of the watering circle, pay attention to the age of the bush. The older the plant, the wider its root system will be. You can also navigate around the circumference of the crown of the bush. Watering is carried out in the evening several times a week.

Note! In dry weather, evening sprays are added to watering.

Further care

Caring for a Boscobel rose includes regular weeding and loosening of the soil. Weeding removes annoying weeds and helps the soil retain moisture. Mulching is also used to facilitate grooming. It allows you to reduce the time spent caring for the plant.

Important! Mulch from leaves, rotted manure or compost is not suitable for a rose, as it can become a carrier of pests and diseases. The ideal material for mulching rose bushes is pine bark, which contributes to soil oxidation.

Top dressing

Fertilizing allows plants to strengthen their immune and root systems. The first feeding is made after the buds open. For this, nitrogen fertilizers are used. Subsequent application is aimed at improving the flowering of roses. This goal is achieved with the help of potassium-nitrogen fertilizing. The last time fertilizers are applied without a nitrogen component, so that the plant does not grow green mass.

Fertilizing roses

The frequency of fertilizing depends on the type of soil. On average, plants need 1-2 per month.The last introduction of nutrients is carried out in the first half of October or 45 days before the onset of the first cold weather.

Pruning

An important part of caring for a David Austin Boscobel rose is bush formation. Lack of pruning can lead to disease and death of the plant.

There are 3 types of pruning bushes:

  • spring is aimed at removing diseased and frozen branches, as well as forming a bush;
  • summer promotes the development of new buds, corrects the shape of the bush;
  • autumn is made to prepare roses for wintering. For good development, no more than 7 main shoots are left to ensure maximum ventilation.

Note! In colder regions, the Boscobel rose requires winter shelter. Before this, the space around the bushes is well cleaned and hilled. These activities should be carried out in dry weather. For hilling, do not use fresh manure, sawdust or fallen leaves.
