Reproduction of roses by layering in summer allows you to grow just such a bush that the gardener has chosen for breeding. An easy and quick way to grow beautiful roses by layering is presented below along with the basic rules for growing in the summer.

Summer breeding

Preparations for growing roses in summer are carried out in spring. Planting a plant begins with soil preparation. The selected area is dug up, weeds are removed, and fertilizers are added.

Climbing rose bushes are planted at a distance of at least 50 cm from each other. The planting hole should be 10 cm larger than the roots of the rose and the earthen ball in which they are located.

Weak branches are cut off, in strong ones 5-8 buds are left, depending on the variety of the rose.

After planting, the bushes must be watered abundantly. Subsequently, you need to spud the bush and mulch.

Important! When disembarking, it is necessary to remove the packaging, even those that decompose in the ground.

How does it multiply

There are 2 simple ways to reproduce roses - with the help of seeds and vegetation, i.e. any part of a plant capable of regenerating into a single plant. In turn, vegetative propagation can be carried out using:

  • layering (ground cover);
  • root shoots (an easy way to root a plant);
  • cuttings (cuttings);
  • dividing the bush (it is better to plant this way only in the fall);
  • vaccinations.

How to propagate roses by air layering: an easy and quick way

Important! Not all varieties of roses can propagate by layering, before carrying out the operation, it is necessary to check whether the plant can be propagated in this way.

Propagation of rose bushes by layering is also divided into several types. There are conventional layering, vertical and aerial. The first 2 methods are usually carried out in the spring. For the propagation of roses by layering in the summer, airy shoots are suitable.

For this method, you need to prepare:

  • plastic bottle;
  • root formation stimulant;
  • soil, which should be light (you can use sphagnum moss);
  • sharp knife;
  • tape or rope.

Stages:

  • Preparing a plastic bottle. Cut off the bottom and cut the remainder lengthwise to place the bottle on the stem.
  • With a knife, carefully remove the bark of the stem in a circle (cut 5-7 cm).
  • Next, the area cleared from the bark is treated with an agent to stimulate root formation. They put on the bottle, carefully fix it with tape or rope, fill it with soil, slightly compacting it.
  • Sprinkle mulch on top of the soil.

After a few weeks, the plant will give new roots. After that, the layering is cut with a pruner below the root area and transplanted to a new place.

Important! It is optimal to form the cuttings during the flowering period, at which time the shoot bark is best separated.

Further care rules

The cherished rose bush has been planted and gave its first shoots. It remains to get acquainted with the rules of care in order to get the most beautiful and lush flowers:

  • Top dressing. A freshly planted flower is best fertilized with organic matter, and chemical fertilizers are used most often already during flowering.
  • Watering. Plants love when the soil is constantly moist.
  • Pruning. It is best produced in early spring. This way you can get rid of dead and damaged branches. In summer, faded flowers and brushes are cut off for the appearance of new ones.
  • Caring for sick plants.The most common diseases are powdery mildew and black spot. With these diseases, it is best to cut off the bushes (this will ensure air circulation), and also water strictly according to the root area. The plant is not watered over the leaves.

Strict adherence to all the recommendations presented will help you get a beautifully flowering plant without diseases and pests.
