This culture is of Asian origin. A spectacular appearance was obtained by crossing several oriental lilies. This variety is one of the most unpretentious, therefore it is suitable for beginner gardeners. The range of colors is extensive. These lilies are called terry lilies because of the large number of petals, the number of which significantly exceeds the number of standard representatives of this culture.

Plant characteristic

These lilies are ot-hybrids, which are characterized by a stable stem with many flowers. The large (up to 25 cm in diameter) flowers of these hybrid varieties are very fragrant. The height of the plant depends on the specific variety and can reach up to 1.5 m, and the flowering period also depends on the variety.

In shape, the flowers can look like a star or a turban (petals twisted upwards). Most plants will be able to grow stronger only after two years in order to withstand large and large flowers.

Features of planting and care

It is best to buy hybrid bulbs in March, then they can be stored in the refrigerator at + 6-8 ° C. For the Middle lane, lilies with a vegetative period of up to 100 days are suitable.

It is allowed to grow lilies as indoor plants. Care will depend on the specific variety.

The site for this culture should be sunny, windless, drained. The distance between plants should be at least 20 cm, then each flower will receive enough nutrients. The bulbs, pre-treated with the fungicide, are placed in the pits. Loosening is excluded from care, because there is a danger of damaging the roots.

Top dressing must be applied before the buds appear, and in the spring it must be fed with complex fertilizers.

Pests often attack lilies, especially bulbs.The red beetle is very dangerous, as it feeds on all parts of the culture. Any insecticide is used to combat it.

The onion beetle is a frequent guest on the shoots. They fight it with chlorophos.
